Job Purpose: Immediate full-time position for experienced Fiber Splicing Technician.  Candidate will be responsible for the terminating, splicing, documenting and testing of all fiber optic lines within the customer’s network.  Five years’ experience and experience with EXFO fiber equipment preferred.  Must be willing to travel.  Current fiber optic certifications preferred.

 

 

Responsibilities Perform fiber tests with OTDR’s, light source and metersTerminate, splice, bonds/grounds and tests fiber optic equipment to standardsPerform installation of fiber optic equipment and patch and panels.Working knowledge of fiber opticsBasic knowledge of networkingProficient in the operation of all related fiber tools and equipmentTerminate, splice and install a variety of fiber optic connectors and enclosuresAbility to troubleshoot damaged fiber effectively and efficientlyPerform fiber tests with OTDRs, light source and metersLearn and adhere to all safety standardsMust be able to read and understand blue prints, designs and work scopes5 years previous experience

Experience with the following equipment a plus:

Fusion splicer, mechanical splicer, OTDR, power meters, traffic identifiers, digital multi-meters, cleavers, strippers, buffer tube splitters, cable ring tools, hand tools, toners, duct rodders, ladders, bucket trucks, etc. is preferred.  Qualifications Associates or Technical Degree preferredCWDM and DWDM experience preferred Experience in carrier technologies a plusPositive attitudeStrong communication skills both written and verbalMust be highly organizedMust display strong work ethic, punctuality and attendance
