Fiberglass Technician Marine- START ASAP
**Job Title: Fiberglass Technician** **Job Description** Fiberglass technicians are responsible for fabricating fiberglass boat components by applying polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resin. The position requires knowledge of marine fiberglass techniques using epoxy, polyester resins, gelcoat, and fiberglass cloth. This detail-oriented role involves crafting, cutting, trimming, sanding, and grinding various surfaces and substrates. A complete understanding of drawings and blueprints is essential to ensure the quality and structural integrity of parts being repaired and fabricated. **_For quicker response email resume to (Kgraf@aerotek.com)_** **Responsibilities** + Perform structural and cosmetic fiberglass repairs and fabrication using epoxy and polyester resins. + Determine the type of resin and catalyst and accurately measure amounts required for saturation and adhesion of material for the application. + Apply multiple layers of mat or fiber to surfaces ensuring adhesion and repeating the process until the desired thickness, contour, and strength is achieved. + Hand lay sections of saturated mat or cloth in place on molds, using proper tooling to ensure correct placement of material. + Use brushes, rollers, and squeegees as needed to smooth out air pockets, air bubbles, and wrinkles to achieve full contact and proper adhesion. + Safely and properly create a vacuum bag barrier on fabricated parts and operate a vacuum pump to evacuate all air from the fabrication area. + Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following the company’s safety policy. **Essential Skills** + Painting + Epoxy + Resin + Gelcoat + Marine Fiberglass Techniques + Sanding **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Minimum 3 years of experience in structural lay-up of matting materials and preparation for repairs of finished products. + Knowledge of spraying and brushing of gel coatings. + Yacht paint and surface prep work is a plus. + Carpentry skills and mold fabrication are a plus. **Why Work Here?** Our company values a safe and supportive work environment where employees are encouraged to develop their skills and advance in their careers.
