The Fiduciary Tax Manager is responsible for managing the tax preparation and all tax processes for all personal trust accounts.  Charles Schwab Trust Company follows the three lines of defense model of risk governance.  The Fiduciary Tax Manager is a first line of defense position and assures compliance with all policies and procedures, as well as all applicable state and federal regulations in the context of their responsibilities. 

This position is the primary contact for the tax preparation vendor, PwC. This position will:

Work with clients, advisors, and trust administrators in answering complex tax questionsReview trust documents to confirm the tax return type on InnoTrust trust accounting systemPerform tax reviews for account closingsAct as liaison between PwC and trust administrators to answer tax questions regarding transactional activity in Personal Trust accountsCoordinate with PwC to prioritize tax return processingMaintain Tax TrackingEnsure necessary tax extensions are filed by April 15Review tax returns as they are prepared by tax preparation vendor, PwC; and follow-up with any questions or issuesReview and mail all K-1 and grantor letters to beneficiariesReview spreadsheets listing monies due for tax filings, estimated payments, and extension payments Review and process electronic and check tax payments for Personal Trust accountsLoad trust documents, tax notices, and K-1s into OneSource's workflow management systemFile IRS election and registration forms upon requestInvestigate and respond to IRS noticesTrack the receipt of all tax refunds due to trust accountsInvestigate any discrepancies between refunds expected and refunds receivedOther duties as requested  What you have

Required Qualifications:

3+ years of fiduciary tax experience with a bank trust department or independent trust company or similar relevant experience.  Bachelor’s Degree

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.  Requires excellent time management skills, ability to juggle multiple competing priorities, with strength in identifying and implementing solutions to address the critical needsExperience with the IRS desiredStrong analytical skills, ability to research problems, determine root causes and solutionsExcellent written and verbal communicationAbility to translate business needs into business requirements, and then implementJD, LLM, CPA, or MT acceptable in lieu of experience

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
