ERM is seeking a motivated, results-driven, and experienced Field Construction Manager to join our Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation (LPMR) team in Antwerp, Belgium. This role presents a unique opportunity to lead field project management for top-tier contractors working on dynamic construction and remediation projects in the Flanders region for a key ERM client. It’s an ideal role for a senior professional aiming to further their career with a global leader in environmental, social, and sustainability consulting.
 

About the Role:

ERM’s LPMR Service supports clients in managing environmental liabilities and maximizing the value of their contaminated land challenges. We develop risk-based soil and groundwater remediation strategies that prioritize human health and environmental protection while aligning with our clients' business goals and regulatory requirements. Our comprehensive services, which span site investigation, risk assessment, remediation, and redevelopment strategies, help clients optimize the value of their active facilities and discontinued operations, bolstered by decommissioning and demolition support when necessary.
 

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the field implementation of ERM projects, overseeing contractor activities and ensuring adherence to technical execution, safety standards, environmental regulations, budget, and timelines.

Manage and document all construction and remediation activities in line with project scope and technical requirements.

Oversee daily contractor performance to ensure project goals are met.

Monitor and evaluate contractor work, ensuring it aligns with client requirements and technical specifications through field verification and audits.

Maintain clear communication with ERM and client management regarding any discrepancies between contractor performance and project scope.

Document and report any variances in scope and technical requirements.

Review contractor work plans and critical task plans, providing feedback to the ERM team and client.

Assist in reviewing contractor schedules, change order requests, and invoices when requested by the client.

Document field activities to confirm scope completion and maintain a final punch list.
 

Ideal Candidate Profile:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering or a related field.

8-10 years of in-field contractor management experience on large, complex construction, civil engineering, and/or remediation projects.

Previous experience as a project manager for an international contractor or engineering firm.

Ability to support cost estimation, track project expenses, handle transmittals/submittals, and review invoices.

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Project.

Exceptional client service skills with strong communication and organizational abilities.

Confident in interacting with clients and regulatory bodies.

Proactive problem-solver with a strong analytical mindset.

Collaborative team player but also comfortable working independently.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong organizational and analytical capabilities.

Willingness to travel for site visits, client meetings, project kick-offs, and on-site project progress meetings.

Possesses a valid driving license (B).
