Depending on their level of knowledge & experience, the Field Engineer's role applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform tasks or jobs for a variety of products and services. Entry and intermediate level roles will receive direct supervision in support of their duties and assignments. Senior and fully-qualified level roles will not only provide the direction to junior field engineers but will also use their extensive knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues and make recommendations to alter development and designs to improve the quality of products and procedures. Familiarity with the variety of field concepts may result in senior roles supporting research but will certainly be used to plan assignments and accomplish goals. Intermediate and Senior positions will act as the key interface with the client at the well site, carrying the duties and responsibilities for completing service assignments and managing other Weatherford personnel at the well site. Whilst this is a generic job description covering the different levels of the Field Engineer position, all aspects of the roles and responsibilities are relevant. Senior roles will be involved with more advanced technology.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science as a minimum 1 – 2.5 year’s experience in Oil & gas industry. OPERATIONS
Participates in all daily operations & safety meetings, toolbox, Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and reports any issues promptly using the appropriate tools Maintains equipment, facilities, and work area in a presentable and safe working condition Repairs machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, cranes, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices Assembles, installs, or repairs wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements, using rules, callipers, micrometres, or other measuring instruments. Assists, performs, and may lead basic to complex troubleshooting, scheduled preventive maintenance and modifications on a wide range of electronic, mechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic equipment, including data acquisition systems & downhole tools to determine the cause of failure, performs corrective actions following documented Company policies & procedures against their level of training & competence Assists, performs, and may lead testing and calibration tasks of tools following documented policies & procedures against their level of training & competence Identifies opportunities for improvement in regard to equipment, procedures, and documentation Completes Work Orders, AIRTs, PFTs, Forms, Checklists, Repair Requests and ensures all relevant databases are maintained accurately Complies with the WO labour time log by accurately clocking in/Out of WO (Work Orders) Time tracking system In senior positions, the employee will often lead the team in undertaking all the assignments detailed above. This includes troubleshooting equipment issues, implementing corrective actions, and providing access to all relative R&M documented policies, procedures, work instructions, and technical manuals allowing the R&M team to complete their work effectively and efficiently Senior roles will ensure all field and workshop personnel follow the corrective and preventative maintenance procedures, ensuring all failures are followed up to closure with a proper root cause analysis and with the implementation of predetermined corrective action(s) Senior roles will lead the workshop and/or the electronic lab, defining and distributing the work assignment schedules while evaluating the quality, proficiency, and efficiency of the works being carried out through performing regular inspections to ensure compliance with standard operating procedures Orders parts, supplies, or equipment from catalogs or approved suppliers according to Weatherford’s guidelines and procedures Supports and complies with the LEAN initiatives and participates in the continuous efficiency improvement program of the facility. Estimates costs to repair machinery, equipment, or building structures Performs other duties and activities safely as assigned by supervisor within physical constraints of the job
COMMUNICATION
Maintains effective communications with all key stakeholders both internal and where appropriate external. Supervisors & Managers should clearly communicate expectations, roles and responsibilities to their reports.
