As a Field Engineer, you will play a critical role in the commissioning of building automation systems for a variety of new construction projects including K-12 schools, clinics, data centers, and pharmaceutical buildings. You will perform basic point-to-point checks on building automation systems, ensuring they are installed and functioning correctly. This role requires extensive travel to various project sites.
Responsibilities
+ Travel to new construction projects to perform point-to-point checks on building automation systems.
+ Use an iPad to verify settings and controls, ensuring proper functionality and running diagnostics.
+ Follow drawing packages and update them as needed.
+ Initiate, install, troubleshoot, and optimize customer systems utilizing advanced Direct Digital Control technology.
+ Serve as the local contact for technical issues and lead in the field.
+ Provide effective solutions for increasingly complex system issues.
+ Deliver turnkey project completion on small to medium projects.
+ Ensure systems operate properly including controls, sensors, and software.
+ Load software, configure trends, alarms, and reports.
+ Implement time management strategies to ensure customer satisfaction.
+ Communicate and document project status and details for customers.
+ Provide site-specific training to owners and operators on the complete system.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in HVAC, Electrical, or technical field.
+ Proficient in building automation systems.
+ Strong computer and smart technology skills.
+ Experience interacting with customers or contractors.
+ Ability to travel 70% of the time.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or GED.
+ 2+ years of experience in Building Automation, HVAC, or a technical field.
+ Capable of climbing ladders or using lift equipment over 8 feet above grade.
+ Capable of lifting items up to 50lbs.
+ Valid and current Driver’s License.
+ Preferred: Bachelor's degree, Associate degree, or Technical/Business School Certificate or Diploma in HVAC, Controls, or related field.
+ Experience with building automation software such as WebCTRL.
+ Basic knowledge of TCP/IP networks including wireless technology.
+ Proficient in using an electrical multi-meter.
+ Good understanding of common HVAC systems like RTUs, air handlers, VAV boxes, Chillers, and Boilers.
+ Ability to read and understand HVAC mechanical prints.
+ Ability to check out and commission common HVAC controls devices such as sensors, valves, damper motors, and relays.
Work Environment
The Field Engineer will work on-site at new construction projects, primarily in schools, hospitals, data centers, and pharmaceutical buildings. The role involves collaboration with internal engineers, contractors (mechanical and electrical), and client representatives. Initially, the position will be based in Madison, WI, with potential work in other markets such as Milwaukee and Green Bay. The role includes a mix of fieldwork and office work, either from home or the Madison office when not traveling. A company laptop, equipment, and vehicle are provided. The position offers growth opportunities within the company, paid time off, holiday pay, and overtime compensation.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $41.00
