Job Title: Field Engineer
Job Description
An engineering firm, a regional leader in professional engineering and consulting services, is seeking a field engineer to work on $1-150 million UDOT roadway reconstruction projects. This includes new roadway construction, rehabilitation of existing roads, and work on pavement, utilities, drainage, and signage. The field engineer will monitor and document all aspects of roadway transportation projects, manage changes and adjustments in the field, and perform testing and measurement of completed work.
Responsibilities
+ Monitor and document all aspects of roadway transportation projects.
+ Ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
+ Manage changes and adjustments required in the field.
+ Test and measure completed work.
+ Assist the resident engineer in managing personnel, work schedules, project budgets, reporting, risk, and crew assets.
+ Provide engineering field support and problem-solving throughout construction.
+ Design and develop engineering projects, primarily during the winter season.
+ Prepare engineering and design documents, including CADD drawings and written specifications.
+ Track and review product submittals for technical compliance.
+ Assist in training field personnel to inspect and enforce contract requirements.
+ Review field documentation and calculations for correctness and completeness.
+ Aid in material testing and analysis of test results.
Essential Skills
+ UDOT transportation project design experience in OpenRoads.
+ Experience managing milestone meetings.
+ Demonstrated history managing UDOT design, including preconstruction engineering and roadway design in OpenRoads.
+ Ability to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
+ P.E. or on path to obtain P.E.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Civil engineering experience
+ Experience in roadway design and transportation projects.
Work Environment
During the dry/summer season, work is remote on roadway projects within 1 hour of Ogden, with occasional overnight travel required. During the winter season, it is preferred for the consultant to be in the office 5 days a week, from 8 am to 5 pm, with hourly straight time for overtime. Field engineers may bank overtime worked during the dry season to reduce hours during the slower winter season while still receiving full pay. The work environment prioritizes work-life balance, aiming for a 40-hour work week. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $110000.00/hr.
