Job Description
The Field Engineer will work on-site at natural gas compressor station projects. These industrial plants ensure the natural gas remains pressurized as it travels through a pipeline by using compressor stations where gas is compressed either by a turbine, motor, or engine. The role involves working across all disciplines on-site, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and piping work.
ResponsibilitiesMaintain and promote a strong safety cultureAssist the Project Manager in managing smaller projectsUnderstand terms, conditions, and scope of the contractTrack materials, production, and project costs for Project Manager review and approvalAssist in facilitating subcontractor activitiesMaintain project schedulePerform basic estimating, take-offs, and solicitation of quotesProvide onsite administrative supportAssist with quality assurance/quality control and test protocolsEssential Skills3+ years of experience as a Field Engineer or similar role in Heavy Industrial or Power Plant projectsExperience working for the Owner, EPC, or GC on these projectsExperience overseeing subcontractors within Electrical and Mechanical disciplines (heavily preferred), civil, and process pipingStrong communication skillsExperience reading prints and using project management softwareAbility to be away from home on a project site for weeks at a time (rotating home every 4-6 weeks)Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as neededAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in construction management, industrial, mechanical, electrical, and power plant projectsKnowledge of turbines and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing) systemsStrong hands-on training program availableOpportunity to move into a Project Manager role after 5+ yearsWork Environment
The work environment involves working on-site at natural gas compressor stations, with projects located primarily in Ohio. The projects are multi-year in duration, with typical work hours being 6 days a week, 10 hours a day. The company has a strong training program and new engineers will be partnered with Project Managers. Benefits include a per diem rate for travel, bonus eligibility, vacation and holiday time, a truck allowance, cell phone allowance, provided equipment, and a 401k match. The team typically consists of 2-3 Project Engineers per site, with additional support from CM/Quality/Safety personnel and occasional site visits from the Project Manager.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $67.00/hr.
