Field Engineer Lead, UT-NV

Supervise Services including performing electrical engineering services at customer locations and supervising Field Engineers/ Electrical Service Technicians.

Supervisor Prioritize, schedule, and distribute work to be performed by the regional Service Department (Field Engineers and Electrical Service Technicians) and ensure a well-orchestrated workflow for quality workmanship. Assist and oversee work performed by Field Engineers and Electrical Service Technicians as needed. Provide technical information and data to Service Support Specialist for the creation of quotations and work scopes. Information includes job repair requirements, parts for order and use, and associated cost. Communicate with customers on technical questions and specifications. Identify and assist with repair and manufacturing training needs. Ensure that proper tools and necessary equipment are available and in good condition to perform the required work efficiently. Direct or provide on-the-job training as needed. Complete and deliver employee performance reviews for department personnel. Conduct performance corrective counseling in consultation with the Manager and/or Human Resources as needed. Actively participate in the recruitment and hiring of employees. Communicate clearly, concisely, and with accuracy to employees, customers, and vendors. Engineer

o Provide technical services as it relates to routine and moderately complex maintenance and/or repair of control systems and their components at customer sites or in FLANDERS locations.

o Diagnose and troubleshoot issues as they relate to control systems, PLCs, VFDs drives and their components at customer sites or in FLANDERS shops.

o Provide after-hours support in person and/or over the phone.

o Complete necessary service, time tracking, and expense documentation.

o Maintain tools and test equipment properly.

o Communicate with FLANDERS’ account representative regarding the status of work as it applies to their customers.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. Experience: Four years in a supervisor and/or leadership position in field service and/or similar environment. Eight years in mining, metals, mills, plants and/or heavy industry experience. Other: Ability to manage and motive team members located at various locations.

o  Knowledge of AC and DC motors.

o     Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) and/or variable frequency drive (VFD) systems for machine troubleshooting.

o     Ability to take after-hours calls.

o     Ability to work independently with little direct management.

Strong math skills including algebra, trigonometry, and analytical geometry skills. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Strong problem solving and organizational Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask while coordinating multiple high level priorities. Strong knowledge of personal computers and Microsoft Office software. Ability to foster good employee/management relations and build a strong team effort to fulfill customers’ expectations. Ability to promote teamwork and direct work of employees. Ability to train and mentor employees. Ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision making related to non-routine duties. Overnight travel required.
