Job Title: Field Engineer

FLSA Status: Exempt

Department: Research and Development

Reports to: Manager - Inspection Systems, Testing and Support

Flex Work Eligible! This position qualifies for the Flexible Work Policy. Employees receive 75 work days annually to work remote! The initial amount of days is prorated for the first year based on start date. 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION / PURPOSE:

The Field Engineer is responsible for working with a dynamic team on innovative structural monitoring projects. This position will work closely with personnel in Operations, Development, Production, and Administrative departments.

Functional & Technical Skills

Install, maintain, relocate, replace, or remove structural response monitoring systems in the field when necessary. Analyze data generated by our structural response monitoring system and generate periodic reports to customers. Review event data and ensure timely reporting of incidents that meet customer prescribed limits. Understand and embrace our vision and our business philosophy, and passionately focus on meeting and exceeding our customers’ expectations. Design layouts for structural response monitoring systems to be installed on customer infrastructure.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Construction Management

Experience: Minimum 1-year experience as a technical, field engineer and willing to work outside on remote bridge sites in a variety of weather conditions.

Licenses/Certifications: Maintain Railroad Certifications and a valid Driver’s License

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent written and verbal communication skills Maintain time flexibility to travel into the field at short notice

*5+ years combination of experience of education and experience in technical or field engineer fields.

50% travel including international, using any method of transportation. Ability to apply high levels of cognitive, analytical, retention and reasoning. Excellent communication skills used within any social context. Can stand, sit, walk, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, hear, taste and smell. Can see up close, distances, colors and has use of peripheral vision and depth perception. Can tolerate variable and sometimes extreme physical conditions during visits or inspections of company equipment in a railroad environment. Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and work on remote bridge sites in a variety of weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 75 lbs.
