The Field Inspector is responsible for ensuring contractor provided services, comply fully with the specified contract scope of service, and adheres to the approved schedule for work done. Inspects and evaluates work performed by METRO staff and contractors. Performs duties in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable rules and safety procedures.
Responsibilities and Specific Duties Conducts quality assurance inspections and monitors scheduled service activities for all METRO and Contractor provided services at METRO owned public facilities. Assists in planning, directing, organizing contractor’s performance at all METRO owned public facilities. Assists in pre-bid, site visits and evaluation of contract activities. Inspects and evaluates work performed by METRO staff and contractors, which include nights and weekend inspections. Maintains timely and accurate documentation to include the daily updating of Excel spread sheets, Word documents and contractor performance picture folders. Reviews and preapproves Contractor invoices and supporting documentation in a timely manner. Maintains field files and work records documenting contractor performance. Assists in the development and modification of scopes of service documents for all existing and proposed new contracts. Follows up on reports of service deficiencies and non-compliance. Confirms corrective action is provided in a timely manner and meets minimum Scope of Service requirements. Reviews assigned contracts and purchase orders, makes recommendations for improvement in the quality and level of service support. Provides excellent customer service to METRO internal and external customers. Promotes safety awareness and follows safety procedures to reduce or eliminate accidents. High school diploma or GED is required. Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred.
Minimum of four (4) years’ experience as an inspector and/or project manager overseeing facilities maintenance projects, custodial, ground keeping, landscaping or other projects requiring meeting the contract scope of services. Contract administration experience preferred.
Knowledge & Skills RequiredGood working knowledge of custodial, ground keeping and landscaping best practices. Knowledge of contracts and contract practices preferred. Good human relations skills. Analytical, organizational, verbal, and written communication skills required. Must be proficient in the use of PC’s and related software, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word. Applicant must successfully pass Microsoft software skills test prior to interview. Valid State of Texas Driver’s License and must meet METRO’s motor vehicle records requirements.
