This is an internal agency employment opportunity for current employees, including OPS, of the Department of Financial Services, the Office of Financial Regulation, and the Office of Insurance Regulation.
SPECIAL NOTES:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Insurance or Risk Management ispreferred.
Additional requirements:
+ Three (3) or more years recent insurance or insurance related professional work experience within the past five (5) years.
+ Possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel, when necessary, within the state of Florida and occasionally overnight on short notice.
+ Experience applying Florida Statutes, rules and regulations directly or indirectly relating to insurance matters.
+ Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
+ Experience conducting investigations.
Additional preferences:
+ Professional experience in an organization related to regulatory, insurance, financial, legal or criminal justice .
+ Experience in training and developing instructional processes.
+ Experience in writing, reviewing and editing reports .
This position starts with a salary of $61,800.00.
Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.
Must be willing to work extra hours outside your regular work schedule.
This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
+ This position is responsible for the leadership of one or more Regional Investigative Offices requiring both independent and teamwork skills to lead, plan, organize and direct day to day operations.
+ Recommends, develops, and implements procedures for investigating all lines of property, casualty, life, annuity, and health insurance agents, adjusters, and other licensees consistent with Division/Bureau policies and procedures.
+ Recognizes the need for employee training and directs and conducts such training.
+ Effectively evaluates the performance of direct reports and challenges them to focus on areas needing improvement. Communicates with employees both individually and in staff meetings to encourage improvement in quantity and quality of work, as well as process improvements. Takes appropriate and timely actions with marginal or failing performers. Supervises, challenges, and mentor’s direct reports and provides them with opportunities for professional growth.
+ Establishes effective lines of communication with division and bureau management. Encourages open and honest communications in field offices and challenges team members to establish effective lines of communication.
+ Reinforces agency/division mission and values by applying same in daily decision making and leading by example.
+ Creates and supports an environment that is flexible and open to change. Promotes a challenging working environment to encourage creative problem solving through teamwork and effective communication. + Assists in the legislative and administrative rule making process. Plans and participates in conferences, teams and represents the Department in public forums.
+ Maintains internal controls to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of operations and compliance with applicable laws, rules and policies.
+ Participates in the planning, development and execution of the Bureau’s response during states of emergency.
+ Responsible for safeguarding and maintaining state property and equipment in field office(s) including motor vehicles.
+ Responsible for monitoring and making purchasing decisions for field offices and encouraging cost saving suggestions from team members.
+ Performs related work as required.
