Field Scientist/Engineer - Regulatory Compliance

Job Description
Terracon is looking for a Field Scientist/Engineer to join the Regulatory Compliance team in our DFW Metro location. We are continuing to expand our Regulatory Compliance practice across the metroplex. As part of our growing team, you will engage with clients to ensure their facilities and businesses are in compliance with applicable regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
General Responsibilities:
Manage and participate in a variety of regulatory compliance projects regulated under the CWA, RCRA, EPCRA, CAA, and other environmental statutes. Actively participate in field inspections, stormwater sampling, construction stormwater inspections, and special studies related to environmental compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Conduct research and prepare applicable permit applications and technical documents including proposals, reports, Limited Environmental Compliance Assessments (LECAs), SPCC plans, SWPPPs, Construction SWPPPs, Tier II reports for a variety of facilities and sectors ranging from industrial/manufacturing to oil & gas. Projects may also include stormwater management, Phase I/II environmental site assessments, ecological and natural resource field surveys, asbestos surveys, and site planning and permitting.
Essential Roles and Responsibilities:Supports safety efforts to promote Terracon safety rules and guidelines. Responsible for maintaining a safe work environment and champions safe practices including pre-task planning for all projects.Report any safety issues or concerns to management.Responsible for environmental site visits, field work, site investigations, assessments and surveys related to environmental compliance Be responsible for maintaining quality standards on all projects.Responsible for interpreting applicability of environmental rules such as SPCC plans, Tier II reporting, SWPPPs, Form R, hazardous waste management, etc.Assist in the collection and analysis of data from sampling, reports, maps, drawings, tests and aerial photographs to evaluate, plan and permit projects.Evaluates moderately complex laboratory and field data and assembles in written reports.Partner with other departments, offices, or subcontractors to secure specialized resources when needed.May have limited client contact pertaining to specific projects/tasks.Be motivated to grow and expand existing regulatory compliance services.Ability to think outside the box, apply general rules to specific problems to produce solutions that benefit the client in achieving compliance with environmental regulations.
Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering/science, chemical engineering, or other environmental related discipline1-3 years of experience preferred in a full-time regulatory compliance roleValid driver’s license with acceptable violation historyAbility to perform site visits, field observations and field data collection or assignments including but not limited to inspections, water, soil and other sampling.Demonstrated high level of technical writing abilityExcellent analytical and communication skills
