Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Location: Peterborough

Salary: £55,516 - £69,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Benefits: 

25 days annual leave  

Up to 12% bonus

Contributory pension scheme - Caterpillar will double the employee's contribution up to 10%.

Contributory share scheme - Caterpillar will match 50% of the employee's contribution.

The opportunity:

As the Field Service Engineer, you will assist in the support of complex technical product problem resolutions of products (batteries, fuel cells, chargers, energy storage systems, and electric drives) to ensure customers receive the product performance, reliability, durability, and availability expected of Caterpillar products.

You will evaluate Caterpillar’s owned assets in operation for the purpose of design validation, testing and feedback through field follow. In addition, product support is an important focus where you will be involved in the rework, investigation and resolution of high priority issues affecting our products and customers.

As the Field Service Engineer, you will provide engineering support, assisting the building of new and protype products. In addition, you will be involved in establishing work processes and training for both internal and external customers within Caterpillar and Cat dealerships.

What you will do:

Diagnose, repair, rebuild, of electrification product(s).

Perform Live electrical (Live Work) work on batteries.

Support dealer personnel in troubleshooting issues, answering technical inquiries, and training personnel.

Communicate site product issues and resolutions.

Facilitate the return of failed parts to the factory for further analysis.

Assist with failure analysis where needed.

Assist dealers with understanding and implementation of service publications.

Manage spare parts, tools, and Personal Protection Equipment on site.

Support regional industry shows, displays, and proving ground events as needed.

Keep up-to-date on new technologies and drive continuous improvement to established techniques.

Develop systems to embed processes and create presentations to train and communicate with business partners.

What you will have:

Troubleshooting Technical Problems - Level Extensive Experience:

Apply safe working practices and utilization of appropriate PPE.

Resolves difficult or high-impact equipment and systems problems.

Applies specific techniques for isolating a problem and defining resolution approach.

Uses advanced diagnostic techniques and tools for unusual or performance-related problems.                   

Must have had hands-on troubleshooting on Hazardous Voltage (HV) systems. 

Customer Focus - Level Working Knowledge:

Works with customers (internal and external) to address critical issues and resolve major problems

Shares customer passion for electrification and decarbonisation.

Communicates the importance of customer needs/expectations and commits to resolving them.

Provides excellent customer service

Helps link organizational objectives to customer needs and expectations.

Data Gathering & Analysis - Level Working Knowledge:

Follows correct data gathering and analysis processes and policies.

Participates in gathering and sharing of organisation's data based on requirements.

Decision Making and Critical Thinking - Level Extensive Experience:

Must be a proven self-starter to travel alone and train dealer technicians in the field.

Assesses and validates decision options and points and predicts their potential impact.
