Introduction:
We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join our Field Service Team at Metso. You will be responsible for troubleshooting and providing Advisory or Supervisory services for the installation, repair, or operation of Metso equipment and systems. 
 
This position is mainly located in Salt Lake City, UT (USA) and will report to the Field Service Manager.
 
This role may involve up to 70% of travel. 
 
What you’ll do:
•    Installation and commissioning of systems, machinery and associated spare parts and wear material components. 
•    Perform technical evaluations and analyze equipment and machine component failures. 
•    Promote products and services to customers. 
•    Promote the sales of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) spare parts and wears material components. 
•    Support field service technicians and carry out practical mechanical service work within the customer site or repair facilities if required. 
•    Supervise Field Service projects on customer site. 
•    Complete field inspections per global procedures. Escalate questions and analysis to Technical Support and Engineering. 
•    Maintain accurate records, prepare site reports and communicate reliable information to all stakeholders, including your own.
•    Maintain detailed technical reports, time sheets and expenses after site visits. 
•    Support quotation work by providing scope of work, initial planning and costing information. 
•    Support solution defining Life Cycle Services (LCS) by providing solution details and scope of work. 
•    Promote Technical Support value add and support Technical Support Teams. 
•    Support warranty process and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) where applicable. 
•    Identify equipment in the field at the customer site that is not in our installed base and input data into Customer Relationship Management (CRM) database for future troubleshooting reference. 
•    Other tasks as assigned. 
 
Who you are:
•    An associate degree in an engineering discipline is beneficial. 
•    Prior field service experience is beneficial. 
•    Ability to complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision. 
•    Preferred to have the ability to work with other people productively, such as Metso colleagues, customers, vendors, and sub-contractors.
•    Ability to make quick, accurate decisions relative to problem solution and problem liability. 
•    Well organized and able to maintain accurate records and communicate reliable information through detailed technical reports. 
•    Mechanical, electrical and instrumentation knowledge and abilities are required. 
•    Ability to understand the various product applications marketed by Metso. 
•    Ability to read and interpret imperial and metric tape measurers, dial indicators, calipers, micrometers, and engineering and architectural drawings.  
•    Ability to travel frequently with extended durations (1 week to 6 weeks). 
•    Occasional international travel may be required with durations (1 week to 8 weeks).

This role comes with some physical work requirements that include:
•    Ability to use all extremities to efficiently operate manual tools, power tools, office and computer     equipment. 
•    Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes     or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all-weather conditions. 
•    Climbing of, and working on, stairs, ladders, and scaffolding, occasionally at extreme heights, is     required. 
•    The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. 
•    Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision,     peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus and ability to read engineering drawings,     meters, and documentation. 
•    Ability to hear audible warning horns. 
•    Must be able to effectively communicate verbally.
