Division Specific Information:
The Materials and Structural Analysis Electron Microscopy (M&SA EM) business enables customers to find meaningful answers to questions that accelerate breakthrough discoveries and ultimately change the world. The M&SA EM business designs, manufactures, and supports the broadest range of high-performance microscopy workflows that provide images and answers in the micro-, nano-, and picometer scales.
Location Specific Information:
There is significant travel expected in this role, which will involve supporting customers in Florida, Mid Atlantic regions as well as NC customers around Raleigh, Durham and Greensboro.

Combining hardware and software expertise in electron, ion, and light microscopy with deep application knowledge in the materials science, life sciences, electronics, and natural resources markets, the worldwide Electron Microscopy employees are dedicated to customers' pursuit of discovery and resolution to global challenges.
A Day in the Life:
Conduct on-site installation of sophisticated equipment and follow testing procedures to ensure accurate working orderConduct on-site scheduled planned maintenance visitsProvide diagnosis and repair support for customers and other field personnelCultivate and develop positive working relationships with customers, system users, and company personnelTravel, often on short notice, to customer sites to resolve problems or support other field service personnelComplete and submit field service reportsProvide training to customers and users on system maintenanceGive feedback to product quality teamsProvide appropriate input in writing updating and correcting various Thermo Fisher system documentationProvide guidance for various reports including identifying and isolating outstanding problems with the systemAct as a subject expert and resource for trainingHow will you get here?
This position is ideal for an experienced service engineer wanting to be involved with a team with varied strengths and exposed to a constant variety of customer application areas.
Education
Minimum education requirement is bachelor's degree or 7+ years equivalent education and experience in electronic systemsExperience
5+ years of hands-on technical experience installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating sophisticated analysis tools such as SEM, TEM, FIB, or similar systems is idealA detailed understanding and extensive experience diagnosing and repairing ultra-high vacuum and high voltage systems.Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
