The Field Service Technician is responsible for representing Coperion and providing assistance to customers in the areas of installation, start-up, troubleshooting and maintenance at customer sites. Solid electrical, mechanical, and PC experience, also understanding how to read schematics, and the ability to interact with customers from operators to plant managers is required to perform proficiently in this position.
Work You’ll Do:
Field Service Support
Represent Coperion in the capacity of Service Representative providing assistance and advice to customers and/or assigned personnel. Provide feedback on information received in the field on Coperion equipment and others.
Work in accordance with all Coperion policies and standards as well as adhering to all customer safety and drug and alcohol control regulations and procedures. Must be responsible, dependable, with a focus on being safety minded.
Install, troubleshooting, overhaul and/or maintain industrial extrusion and other Baker Perkins product lines associated equipment. Assist customers with starting up newly installed equipment and train customer personnel as needed. Sometimes leading classroom type training may be required.
Must be willing to work flexible hours (holidays, weekends) and maintain 70% travel utilization year on year. This includes travel throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, and other worldwide customer sites. (Required to have or be willing to obtain a valid passport.)
When not on travel assignment, perform assignments such as writing reports, preparing field information packages for yourself and other Field Service personnel, answering customer phone calls, and other related tasks for the Field Service Department.
Keep accurate records, reports, photos, etc. from your jobs and transmit them to the proper network location and groups for action. (Complete all trip reports and data sheets related to assignments as detailed as possible and in a timely manner)
Basic Qualifications:
Associate degree in industrial electricity, electronic engineering technology, or other related field, or combination of equivalent training/certifications experience and high school diploma.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in Field Service or in-house Assembly or servicing of large capital equipment required.
Electrical and mechanical experience.
The ability to read and interpret documents such as engineering reports, drawings, office procedures, and instruction manuals is required.
The ability to use standard hand tools as well as basic electrical tools (multimeter, etc.).
The ability to write clear, concise routine correspondence as well as comprehensive documents.
Knowledge of word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel), PowerPoint.
Must live within 1 hour of a major airport.
Must have a valid driver's license with clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bakery and or extrusion equipment repair experience.
Experience with any of the following: HMI (Human Machine Interface), Wonderware using RS Logics 5000, Compact Logics Processor/Allen Bradley, RS View, Controllogix, RS Logics 500, Omron PLC/HMI, Computer Networking, Ethernet IP, Devicenet, RS232 Communications, AC/DC Drives, VFD. experience.
