Marlen is adding a Field Service Technician to join our team focused company. As a Service Technician, you will be responsible for total equipment lifecycle management services that optimize the performance of OEM equipment. Field responsibilities include installation, start-up/commissioning, preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, audits, and training on the Duravant family of operating company equipment.
The Technician must be able to use his or her outstanding communication skills to work closely with customer management, supervisors, production employees, and technicians on complex problems and assume responsibilities for continued customer satisfaction. This position requires frequent travel to customer sites to assist with installation, servicing, and repair of Marlen poultry processing equipment and related sub-systems, and equipment rebuilds. Work assignments are varied but limited in scope and complexity. Position Duties & Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
Conduct field service calls at customer sites to provide installation, commissioning, emergency repair, preventive maintenance, audits, retrofits, and training services
Perform mechanical and electrical modifications including PLC programs and servo drive configuration
Conduct site visit meetings with customer contacts to include explanation of job scope and work completed
Conduct training with customer’s personnel to ensure understanding of the sequence of operations, proper functionality, and general maintenance of equipment
Achieve service delivery goals including response time, first time fix and customer satisfaction rates.
Communicate effectively with field service management and internal service support team to efficiently resolve customer issues.
Provide equipment reliability feedback to quality engineering and collaborate on improvements.
Comply to industry, company, and customer safe working practices.
Ensure paperwork, timesheets, CRM entries, expenses and other paperwork functions are done promptly, on time and to a high quality.
Periodically perform technical support, final assurance, or other duties at SupportPro HQ.
Position Requirements:
AAS or BS in Mechatronics, EE, EET, EECS, or Industrial Electronics is desired.
3 years’ experience with solid knowledge and interaction of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic components, and HMI.
3 years’ experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, emergency service and repairing electronics and mechanical machine problems in the field.
AB CompactLogix PLC and RSLogix500/5000 programming experience including minor. modifications to PLC programs, and accessing networks through PLC to troubleshoot issues, download and unload programs.
Interpret complex technical information involving mechanics and electronics, including schematics.
Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) parameter configuration and Servo drives and motors configurations.
Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for a US passport.
Skills
Must be able and willing to travel up to 90% of the time.
Ability and willingness to learn and apply required customer service skills.
Ability to learn, produce, and submit accurate service and expense reports in a timely manner.
Possesses a good mechanical and electrical background in a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in the food processing/manufacturing industry.
Preferred candidates have knowledge of automated machine controls and industrial automation technology.
It is crucial to be able to read and follow blueprints, machine drawings, and electrical drawings.
Is proficient in the use of a laptop computer, iPad, and standard software.
Strong ability to use a variety of common power and hand tools.
Must be able to work safely and efficiently according to industry standards.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and clean MVR.
Has strong troubleshooting ability.
The ability to look at an entire process and determine the source of the problem/issue.
Eligible to qualify for a legal passport in case of incidental international travel.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to grasp, handle and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
This job will require about 80-90% travel and may include non-traditional work hours such as weekends and holidays. Some facilities will require help on 2nd and 3rd shifts. The working conditions within a processing facility can be cold or hot and damp / wet. The position will require the use of personal protection devices (ear plugs, hard hat, and eye protection). When not traveling, work will be completed from hotels, home, and/or office.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
