Field Service Technician
**Job Title: Field Service Technician** **Job Description** The Field Service Technician is responsible for the on-site service and startup of commercial and industrial air conditioning and refrigeration units and equipment. Additionally, this role provides technical support via phone or email to assist customers in troubleshooting equipment in the field. The technician must accurately receive and understand the Service Supervisor's instructions, maintain constant communication with other departments and external customers, and work cooperatively with all team members. **Responsibilities** + Troubleshoot by observing equipment in operation and testing system operation using precision gauges and testing instruments. + Troubleshoot via phone or email using information provided by customers, schematics, testing documentation, submittal data, and other available information. + Test lines, components, and connections for leaks. + Dismantle malfunctioning systems and test components using electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment. + Adjust or replace worn or defective mechanisms and parts, and reassemble repaired systems. + Read blueprints to determine the location, size, capacity, and type of components needed to build a refrigeration system. + Install wiring to connect components to an electric power source. + Perform mechanical overhauls and refrigerant reclaiming. + Bend, thread, and connect pipe to functional components and water, power, or refrigeration systems. + Adjust valves according to specifications and charge systems with the proper type of refrigerant by pumping the specified gas or fluid into the system. + Estimate, order, pick up, deliver, and install materials and supplies needed to maintain equipment in good working condition. + Install expansion and control valves using acetylene torches and wrenches. + Mount compressor, condenser, and other components in specified locations on frames using hand tools and acetylene welding equipment. + Keep records of repairs and replacements made. **Essential Skills** + Minimum three years of experience in HVAC/R. + Associate's Degree (two-year college or technical school) or equivalent job experience. + HVAC/R certificates, licenses, or training. + Valid driver's license. + EPA Certification preferred. + Proficiency in brazing, preventive maintenance, and installation. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to observe equipment and test system operations. + Ability to read blueprints and understand schematics. + Experience with electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic testing equipment. + Proficient in the use of hand tools and acetylene welding equipment. + Capability to perform mechanical overhauls and refrigerant reclaiming. **Why Work Here?** Our company offers comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
