JOB SUMMARY: The Field Service Technician will troubleshoot, test, diagnose, and repair electrical power generators and safely perform normal machine repair. Responsibilities include inspecting, repairing, maintaining, overhauling, and rebuilding engines and/or power generator components. The Field Service Technician will travel to Ohio Cat and customer locations, working in the natural elements from an Ohio Cat service truck. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: + A high school diploma or equivalent is required. + Must have one of the following: + Successfully completed the level 2 training program. + Three or more years of experience with electrical power generator service and repair is required, from 5kw up to 2mg, preferably with Caterpillar equipment. + Graduation from an accredited technical school (minimum two-year program), with emphasis on power generator equipment. + Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record following Ohio CAT standards (4 or fewer moving violation points). COMPETENCIES: + Have a thorough understanding of equipment, and preventative maintenance procedures, and be able to perform minor repairs. + Strong technical service skills, mechanical aptitude, experience with power generation equipment required, and strong DC electrical and machine electronic system knowledge is crucial. + Must follow technical material and apply processes and procedures as needed to complete repairs and manufacturers’ updates, as required. + Possess the ability to work in a low-supervised environment and take direction from multiple supervisors. + Be able to communicate effectively with customers, supervision, and dispatchers verbally and written. + Possesses basic math skills. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: + Lifting/Carrying 40 lbs. Lift/Carry and 50lb pull + Repetitive Motions Frequent movement requiring hands, wrists, and fingers. + Dexterity Normal + Frequent standing/sitting up and down stairs. + Ability to work in a fast-paced environment. + The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
