System One is seeking a Field Services Technician / Machinist for a permanent position with our client. The Field Service Machinist III is an advanced-level position responsible for machine repair. This role requires the ability to independently read and interpret blueprints, planning sheets, sketches, and related technical data to determine tooling requirements, setup procedures, control settings, and machining methods and sequences. As a leader and subject matter expert, the Field Service Machinist III plays a key role in training other machinists and collaborating with engineering teams on specialized tooling designs. The primary focus of this position is the repair of steam and gas turbine components.

Important Details:

Direct Hire opportunity

Pay rate up to $40/hr. Salary will be commensurate with experience.

Can be based anywhere in the US

Should have Driver’s License and Passport

Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test and intermittent drug testing throughout employment

Salaried position (40 hours) and paid when not traveling for repairs

Eligible for Incentive Pay Bonus based on performance and workload

Travel expenses will be paid

Travel could range from 2 weeks a month to 4 weeks a month - spring and fall are the higher outage season

Ideal experience would include experience repairing gas turbine generators

Needs strong mechanical machine repair skills including boring, fitting, etc.

Specific product repair training will be provided but need strong foundation of mechanical repair is needed

Interview process - phone interview then virtual interview, potentially with expense covered onsite interview

Schedule - Repair shifts may be 1st shift (day) or might be 3rd shift (night) depending on the site

Salary will range depending on whether they are hired for Level 1, 2, or 3 - $28 to $40/hr.

 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Repair field machines including lathes, milling machines, boring machines, and grinding equipment.

Calculate and set machine controls to position spindles relative to parts, regulating factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.

Operate machinery and monitor displays to detect and address malfunctions.

Execute machining sequences and use precision measuring tools to ensure parts meet blueprint specifications.

Perform dimensional inspections on various products to verify quality and accuracy.

Read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.

Clean machines, tooling, and parts, and perform routine preventive maintenance.

Contribute to the development of new processes and techniques.

Assist in creating procedures and work packages.

Train and mentor other machinists on technical skills and job-specific tasks.

Travel extensively (approximately 70% or more) by land and/or air as required.

Obtain and maintain access qualifications for nuclear plant environments.

Perform additional duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION

Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, with at least eight (8) years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills: Ability to comprehend and follow instructions, write clear correspondence, and communicate effectively in one-on-one and small group settings.

Mathematical Skills: Proficiency in calculations relevant to machining tasks.

Reasoning Ability: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions based on technical requirements.

Computer Skills: Proficiency with personal computer applications, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and technical drawings.
