Job Title: Field Superintendent

Job Description

We are seeking a Field Superintendent to join our team and make a significant impact on the Carolinas Market. The Field Superintendent will be responsible for overseeing construction field installations with a focus on labor productivity, quality, and timely completion. This role requires close coordination with the project team and involves travel between various job sites. The majority of our work is within the commercial sector, including healthcare, higher education, pharmaceuticals, and government projects.

ResponsibilitiesStudy drawings and specifications to plan construction procedures based on starting and completion times and staffing requirements for each phase of construction.Ensure an adequate field workforce is maintained on each project with input from Project Managers and the Construction Operations Manager.Monitor field labor productivity to meet job cost budget.Monitor and assist in scheduling fabrication shop activities, quality, and accuracy of shipments.Coordinate project and material needs to maintain piping and sheet metal field labor productivity.Provide hands-on assistance at job sites to ensure maximum productivity of field crews.Assist on-site field teams with the development of work sequences and material needs.Provide assistance at job sites with the setting of all equipment, such as boilers, chillers, pumps, air handling devices, fans, medical gas equipment, and other critical equipment.Assist in developing new Field Superintendents and Assistant Field Superintendents through on-site and classroom training.Assist in troubleshooting and service calls on installed systems as required.Help establish room and board rates, travel arrangements, and ensure vehicle expense budgets are met.Schedule, monitor, and correct subcontractor progress and performance.Ensure all weekend work by subcontractors is supervised by a experienced Field Superintendent, Field Superintendent, or Assistant Field Superintendent.Prepare written evaluations for all field personnel and make salary adjustment recommendations.Review and approve weekly field timesheets.Hire and terminate field employees as necessary.Procure tools and materials to be delivered on schedule.Work closely with the Project Manager and BIM Department to ensure timeliness, accuracy, and adherence to codes.Assist the Project Manager with building and updating job-specific labor burn charts.Develop positive relationships with temporary staffing agencies and manage temporary workers.Manage and track rental equipment for optimal use.Manage and track the tool fleet program.Review and enforce the speeding/idling report.Attend and participate in bi-monthly Field Superintendent meetings and other pre-job startup meetings.Work closely with the Project Manager and Construction Operations Manager to ensure project schedules are met.Assign and maintain the truck fleet and monitor welding, brazing/soldering, and medical gas certifications.Ensure quality assurance and control on job sites, including timely completion of punch lists.Enforce the safety policy and conduct weekly toolbox talks and site safety inspections.Essential SkillsExperience in HVAC, Plumbing, Duct Work, Piping, Mechanical InstallationAbility to manage up to 1-2 projectsAbility to read and interpret documentsAbility to write routine reports and correspondenceEffective communication skillsProblem-solving skills with practical applicationAbility to interpret various instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schematic formProficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometryKnowledge of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportionsAdditional Skills & QualificationsExperience in commercial constructionExperience with sheet metal workExperience in subcontractor managementAbility to supervise and manage both full-time and temporary workersWork Environment

This role is within a blue-collar organization, and we seek someone who is ready to be on the ground and actively involved. Field Superintendents and Project Managers are well-supported and typically provided with company vehicles. The work environment involves traveling between various job sites, managing multiple projects, and ensuring compliance with all safety and quality standards.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $100000.00
