Field Systems Engineer

This is an exciting and challenging job that will fully utilize your experience and project management skills in a way that few positions can offer. Chart Field Engineers/Technicians are involved in the factory acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning of our cryogenic engineered systems and equipment. They are the final impression left on our customers and are crucial in obtaining repeat business from our customer base. The type of work will include design reviews with the project engineering teams, troubleshooting and testing of new equipment at the factory, working directly with customer and contractors on-site to provide guidance on the installation methods of Chart equipment, commissioning and startup activities, training end-users on the operation, maintenance and safety practices of Chart equipment, and providing feedback and lessons-learned to our engineering and design teams.

What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be… With the assistance of the project engineers and controls engineers assigned to each project, walk down and function test equipment prior to final shipment to the customer. Support production personnel with any alterations required during factory testing Conduct on-site field checkouts, commissioning and startup activities of the equipment after it is installed and train customer personnel on how to operate and maintain the equipment Create and maintain factory testing plans, commissioning plans, and training documentation, as needed Create field reports and punch-lists after returning from each site visit and assist the project management team with closing out any open items. Review project documentation and operating manuals to become familiar with each system prior to each site visit and plan each trip accordingly. Work with project management teams and customers to gain a better understanding of the scope of commissioning, site support, and training sold or required by each project Provide regular updates of travel status, customer schedules, and purchased tools or equipment to associated project managers Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management Your Education Should Be… BS degree preferred, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering· 2 yr degree in engineering technologies with applicable experience In lieu of degree, 2 years of applicable experience will be considered Your Physical Work Environment Will Require… Office and on-site environments, many of which are active construction sites Engineering lab activities, including outdoor field testing Production floor environment will involve possible exposure to materials with rough edges, temperature extremes, moving mechanical parts, chemical cleaning solvents and their odors Cryogenic liquid testing that would involve possible exposure to cold surfaces and all common hazards associated with pressurized piping systems Work related travel will be required (approximately 75%) Frequent standing, sitting, walking. Working at heights is not uncommon. Frequent computer work. Your Professional Experience Should Be… 3 to 5 years of experience preferred in the engineering and commissioning of mechanical equipment such as valves, pumps vaporizers, used in the pressure vessel, boiler, or oil and gas industry Working knowledge of industrial codes and common engineering practices used within the oil and gas industry (specific interest in ASME Section VIII, ASME B31.3, and NFPA 59A) Experience with industrial controls (specifically Allen Bradley packages) Experience with diagnostic tools such as a multimeter, ammeter, megohmmeter, HART communicator, etc. Experience with hands-on technical work and support of field service and production staff Excellent oral and written communication skills Experience and understanding of heat transfer, structural analysis, and fluid flow Basic understanding of cryogenic liquids, compressed gases, and their properties Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite (specifically Word, Excel, Project Chart is an equal opportunity employer...
