If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Field Technical Specialist supporting Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) Therapy in our Neuromodulation division, primarily supporting the Victoria region.

About the Role

As a Field Technical Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the care of patients undergoing DBS therapy for movement disorders.You will work collaboratively with neurologists, their teams, and other healthcare professionals to deliver seamless procedural and technical support, ensuring optimal outcomes at every stage of the therapy process.Additionally, you will manage equipment and operational needs to maintain high-quality standards in patient care, including supporting the team in all aspects of managing the designated territory.

Key Responsibilities

Patient and Clinical Support

Pre-Procedure Support:Educate patients and caregivers about the DBS therapy journey, addressing questions, concerns, and expectations.Conduct pre-operative assessments to determine patient suitability and prepare them for the DBS procedure.Collaborate with neurologists and other healthcare professionals to develop tailored patient management plans.Intra-Procedure Support:Provide technical expertise and guidance during DBS procedures, ensuring proper device implantation and optimal system functionality.Operate and troubleshoot DBS programming equipment in real-time during the case.Maintain a professional and supportive presence in the procedural setting, ensuring smooth communication and patient safety.

Post-Procedure Support:Program and adjust DBS devices based on patient feedback and clinical evaluations to optimize therapy outcomes.Train patients, caregivers, and healthcare providers on device usage, care, and troubleshooting.Monitor therapy progress and promptly address any technical or clinical issues in collaboration with the neurologist.

Operational and Equipment Management

Coordinate and manage all equipment required for DBS procedures, including ordering, setup, and maintenance.Ensure proper functionality and calibration of DBS devices and programming tools before and after use.Track inventory levels and manage logistics for timely delivery of equipment and supplies to clinical sites.Maintain detailed records of equipment usage, repairs, and inventory to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

Team and Administrative Support

Act as a liaison between the clinical team and the company to address product-related queries or concerns.Provide feedback to the internal team to improve products and procedures based on field experience.Support educational initiatives for neurologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to enhance understanding and utilization of DBS therapy.Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities to stay up to date with the latest advancements in DBS technology.

General Responsibilities

Liaising closely with the Territory Manager and Product Manager in helping manage/support all aspects of the territoryBuild and maintain strong relationships with healthcare providers, fostering trust and collaboration.Stay informed of clinical and technical developments in DBS therapy and share insights with the team and stakeholders.Ensure adherence to all regulatory and compliance requirements in your daily activities.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Biomedical Engineering, Neuroscience, Nursing, or similar)Minimum 3 years of experience in a clinical, technical, or field-based role within the medical device industry, particularly in neurology or movement disorders, is highly desirable.Prior DBS experience is advantageousFamiliarity with supporting surgical or interventional procedures is prefered

Skills and Competencies

Strong technical acumen with the ability to learn and operate sophisticated medical devices and software.Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, caregivers, and medical professionals.Highly organized and detail focused with strong problem-solving abilities.  Particularly under pressure.Flexibility to travel within the assigned territory and adapt to varying clinical and procedural environments.Flexible to support cases outside of working hours and on weekends as per required
