Field Technician I

HOW A FIELD TECHNICIAN I WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
● Fabricates, installs, maintains, and repairs electronic, mechanical, and/or other types of components and equipment. 

● Assists with the completion of technical tasks.
● Assists with modifying, moving, and installing new equipment.

● A successful candidate will have experience disassembling, reassembling, and testing mechanical systems such as wire rope winches following written and verbal procedures and guidance. 

● A successful candidate must be willing to learn and take direction from senior technicians within the group.

● Travels to various sites (CONUS and OCONUS) to perform repairs and troubleshoot problems under the direction of senior technicians, working directly with Government representatives.  
● 50% to 75% of the work is conducted in the Norfolk, VA area. 

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED:
●  Education: High School Diploma/GED
●  Required Experience: 1+ years of related experience 

● Required Technical Skills: Must be proficient at using common hand and power tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, drills, and saws. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, safety toe shoes, and ear protection for prolonged periods of time while working in shipyard environments.
● Security Clearance Level: Must be able to attain a Secret security clearance within six months of start date.
● Required Skills and Abilities: Must be able to effectively communicate with coworkers.

●  Must be able to follow written and verbal directions to accomplish assigned tasking.  

●  Must be able to gain access to U.S. Naval Bases and private and public shipyards including, but not limited to, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Huntington Ingalls-Newport News, BAE, and Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

●  Must be able to use computer software such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
● Preferred Skills: Ability to read and interpret blueprint and schematics

The likely hourly rate for this position is between $19.84 - $23.00. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
