Welcome to the role of Field Technician I - Fire Suppression. In this position, you will provide general labor and materials handling in support of the Fire Suppression operation. The work will be conducted in commercial, industrial, and underground facilities. This position must possess a thorough understanding of all aspects of Fire Suppression and demonstrates proficiency with the products and service equipment associated with Fire Suppression.
This position will require a flexible schedule that may include extended hours, weekends, holidays, and evenings.
What You'll Do Assist with and learn how to inspect, install, maintain, troubleshoot, test, and repair fire detection and suppression systemsAssist with and learn how to perform pipe joining practices such as threading, grooving, press fitting, bolt connections, etc.Install hangers following code requirementsProperly use hand tools, power tools, threaders, etc. for applications in Fire SuppressionAssist with troubleshooting electronic fire alarm detection and suppression equipmentLearn to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, codes and specifications, schematics, and operational product manualsBecome familiar with job specific documentation with the intention of becoming proficientCommunicate effectively with Project Managers, Planners, Project Engineers, and other field personnel regarding duties and relevant issuesFollow instructions and complete given tasks that are specific to job completionProvide physical labor as requiredLoad and prepare work materials for transport to job sitesWorking Conditions
Walk / use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls / reach with hands and arms / climb ladders and stairs / crawl / kneelRegularly lift and/or move up to 50 poundsPerform duties on-site at industrial, commercial, and residential locationsPerform work underground and at heights for extended periods of time What You'll Bring No experience necessary, but knowledge of plumbing on fire suppression systems including wet pipe, dry pipe, pre-action, deluge, and fixed fire extinguishing systems is preferredPossesses a technical and mechanical aptitudePossesses a basic knowledge of NFPA 25 preferredAbility to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and schematicsAbility to perform mathematical calculations accuratelyMust be willing to attend training and remain updated with regard to industry standards and requirements to include the MSHA 40-hour, Red Hat certification, underground training, state specific trainings and manufacturer certifications How We'll Support YouPerks/Benefits
