Field Testing Lead Europe East 

 

Job Purpose

We are looking for a skilled and visionary Field Testing Lead (FTL) for the Europe East sub-region to join our team at Bayer. In this leadership role, you manage and develop a high-performing Field Testing team while establishing strategic capabilities that drive innovation and operational excellence. You oversee multiple breeding field testing sites across six countries, ensuring thorough product evaluation and data capture throughout the crop cycles of corn and oilseed rape for our Seeds & Traits pipelines. As a key liaison with business stakeholders, you play an essential role in fostering continuous growth within our Seeds & Traits portfolio. Key Tasks:Team Culture: Cultivate a strong regional team culture and shape a sub-regional Breeding Field Testing structure that ensures safe and efficient research operations in line with Bayer’s HSE, Compliance, and Ethics Standards.Personal Development: Foster a cohesive team environment through coaching, counselling, recognition, and timely feedback.Innovation: Drive the development and implementation of innovative solutions to enhance field testing efficiency and data quality.Regional Strategy: Develop and implement a regional strategy to meet project and organizational goals, including transitioning to new data generation from the commercial team.Scientific Excellence: Ensure scientific excellence and compliance with research standards.Collaboration: Work with global and regional product and technical teams, providing coaching and leadership to enhance overall team performance.Performance Metrics: Use performance metrics to assess team effectiveness and incorporate best practices to enhance data quality.Continuous Improvement: Promote continuous improvement of agricultural practices and processes across the region.Stakeholder Interface: Serve as the key interface with business stakeholders to achieve expected business outcomes, targeting continuous annual growth of over 10%.Community Engagement: Lead community engagement activities to meet company sustainability objectives and act as the external point of contact for the region.

 

Required Qualifications:Educational Background: Ph.D. with 8+ years of relevant experience or M.S. with 10+ years of relevant experience in Agronomy, Agroscience, or applied field technology.Leadership Experience: At least 3 years of demonstrated leadership in managing complex organizations and markets.Communication Skills: Strong written and oral communication skills, with financial management experience including budget forecasting, cost management, and capital planning.Industry Knowledge: Broad knowledge of modern agricultural practices, industry trends, and technology.Relevant Degree and Experience: Focus on agriculture, agronomy, life sciences, engineering, or a related field.Strategic Implementation: Proven ability to develop and implement team strategies that align with organizational goals.
