Job Title: Final Inspector $28.69/hr

Job Description

As a Final Inspector, you will be responsible for performing a variety of inspection and minor salvage operations on finished metal parts, ensuring they meet customer specifications. This role requires flexibility to work all shifts in a union environment, including a 12 on 2 off schedule, with every other weekend off.

ResponsibilitiesPerform incidental minor salvage operations.Make final disposition of product and keep necessary records.Perform hardness tests on finished metal parts.Perform layout work to check dimensions with measuring tools.Perform dye checks of forgings.Obtain and maintain certification as a final and blacklight inspector.Prepare, dip, drain, wash, emulsify, develop, dry, and inspect stock and forgings using blacklight technique.Probe and remove defects observed in the inspection process.Repair and blend surface defects as required.Occasionally draw sketches of defects and locate defects on drawings.Layout forgings for bandsawing and machining.Pack and unpack products for shipment in conjunction with the inspection operation.Use industrial trucks to transport materials in the work area.Ensure products meet customer specifications before final approval.Essential SkillsExperience within a heavy manufacturing environment.Experience utilizing measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.2+ years of quality experience.Ability to read blueprints and drawings.High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).Flexibility to work all shifts.Willingness to work overtime, up to 64 total hours per week as per contract.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

This department inspects finished forged metals for the aerospace and defense industry. The environment is heavy industrial manufacturing, with metals weighing from 20 to 350 lbs, moved via crane or automated robot. The work environment can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. Inspectors have assigned workstations but will move around to perform different quality testing.
