Position Purpose: The Final Line Mechanic III performs complex installations, repairs, rework, and tests on aircraft components in a team-oriented environment. This position requires advanced knowledge of aerospace systems, tools, and methods to ensure that all installations and repairs meet specifications and operational requirements. The mechanic is also responsible for training and mentoring less experienced team members and may serve as an acting Team Coordinator when necessary.

Education and Experience Requirements:

High School Diploma or GED required.

Five (5) years of aerospace/aviation experience or equivalent mechanical experience (e.g., auto mechanics, heavy equipment).

Two (2) years of Gulfstream aircraft experience preferred.

A&P (FAA Airframe and Powerplant) license preferred.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

Complex Installations and Repairs: Perform the most complex structure and aircraft installations, repairs, rework, or tests. Ensure familiarity with all components and systems, and ensure that all parts and assemblies meet design and safety requirements.

Parts Management: Effectively manage parts and materials at the assigned work station, ensuring all parts are accounted for, controlled, and disposed of properly. Follow documentation control procedures for tracking parts.

Blueprint Interpretation and Problem Resolution: Assist in interpreting blueprints, drawings, and engineering orders. Resolve production installation challenges by developing and utilizing shop aids and efficient methods.

Cross-Department Coordination: Coordinate work with other departments (e.g., engineering, quality control) to ensure smooth workflows and on-time project completion.

Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality and efficiency of installations. Perform necessary repairs as per discrepant material tags or material review requests to meet conformity standards.

Tool Usage: Operate a variety of tools and equipment, including special tools, fixtures, and jigs, to perform complex component installations.

Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot mechanical and structural issues that may arise during the installation process. Determine root causes and implement corrective actions.

Log and Record Maintenance: Update and sign all required logs, records, and reports (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs, Crabs, PCOs) to track and document progress and completed tasks.

Workload Planning: May assist in planning and organizing workloads and resources to optimize work schedules, meet deadlines, and maintain productivity levels.

Work Area Organization and Safety: Maintain a clean and organized work area in compliance with company standards, including FOD (Foreign Object Debris) and 5S programs. Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.

Gulfstream Competencies: Demonstrate Gulfstream Manufacturing competencies during employee performance reviews to maintain a high level of operational efficiency and skill development.

Continuous Improvement: Actively support and participate in continuous improvement processes to enhance operational efficiency, reduce errors, and improve quality.

Additional Functions:

Flight Testing: May participate in flight tests as needed in support of aircraft certification and final phase testing.

Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the team, department, or organization.

Other Requirements:

Mathematical Proficiency: Must be able to solve dimensional problems using fractions, decimals, and whole numbers.

Measuring Device Expertise: Proficiency in using multiple measuring devices, with a demonstrated ability to meet specified tolerances and operational requirements.

Production Quality Training: Completion of production quality training to ensure adherence to company standards and safety requirements.

Software Experience: Experience with Solumina and Smarteam is preferred for managing workflow, documentation, and record-keeping.

Blueprint and Schematic Reading: Must be able to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.

Close Tolerance Work: Skilled in performing close tolerance work, including tasks like drilling, reaming, ship fitting parts, and other precision operations. Must have experience using specialized tools for these tasks.

Tool Proficiency: Ability to operate hydraulic mule pumps, tools, fixtures, jigs, and other equipment required for complex installations and repairs.

Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, work in confined spaces, and lift up to 50 lbs. as needed during installation and maintenance tasks.

Work Environment: The position requires working in a production or aircraft maintenance environment. Technicians must adhere to all company safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure the safety of themselves and others in the workspace.



 



Pay Details: $32.19 per hour
