Seminole Classic Casino pioneered Indian gaming when it opened as the country’s first large stakes bingo hall in 1979, eventually expanding with gaming machines and poker. Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance, the incumbent, either personally or through subordinates, directs the activities of gaming and non gaming accounting, revenue controls, cash operations, accounts payable, payroll, general accounting, collections, food and beverage accounting, accounts receivable, receiving and general cashiering.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

May include but are not limited to:

Direct and manage team members. Handle non-standard situations where independent judgment is required and limited guidelines exist. Effectively present information to top management. Adheres to the Seminole Tribe of Florida's Policies and Procedures.
Oversees and assists with weekly payroll processing and printing of payroll checks.Determines compliance with Seminole Tribe of Florida’s procedures concerning payments to approved vendors and for retrieving Federal I.D. numbers on current vendors. Prepares and reviews monthly journal entries for accruals, expense and void checks.Assembles, reviews and balances all payroll reports.Reviews and approves all payroll related check requests.Performs all detailed employee research and reconciliations.Processes and submits all weekly tax deposits.Processes, reviews, prepares and submits all quarterly taxes.Reviews and processes weekly payroll close to GL.Performs on-demand reporting for management and auditors.Process and submits weekly 401(K) files and payments.Sets payroll deadlines, processes and procedures with Director of Finance.Maintains integrity and confidentiality of all payroll data.Must possess ability to read, analyze, and interpret common technical journals, financial reports and legal documents.Maintains a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
Performs all other related and compatible duties as assigned.
Works closely with the Human Resources department on employee benefits and deductions. Qualifications Bachelor of Arts/Science degree in Accounting as well as five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in an accounting/financial management area or an equivalent amount of education and/or experience.CPA designation.  Must possess knowledge of casino operations, and accounting and internal controls. Must be detail-oriented with well-developed mathematical skills. Must possess the ability to operate computer and software programs.

CLOSING:

The Tribal Council gives preference in all of its employment practices to Native Americans. First preference in hiring, training, promoting and in all other aspects of employment is given to members of the Seminole Tribe who meet the job requirements. Second preference is given to members of other federally recognized Native American Tribes who meet the job requirements.
