We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Controller to manage all aspects of financial accounting, reporting, and compliance for our value-added reseller business serving U.S. federal intelligence community agencies. The Controller will play a key role in overseeing financial operations, managing budgets, maintaining financial records, and providing strategic financial guidance to support growth and profitability. Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and coordinates the preparation of financial statements and filings in compliance with GAAP.\n

Key Responsibilities:\n
Financial Reporting & Analysis:\n\nManage the accounting close and prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.\nProvide detailed financial analysis, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.\nMonitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) relevant to equipment sales and reselling operations.\n\n
Revenue Recognition & Compliance:\n\nEnsure compliance with accounting standards (GAAP) and regulatory requirements.\nOversee accurate revenue recognition processes, especially in accordance with equipment sales, service contracts, and financing arrangements.\nMaintain and monitor internal controls to ensure financial integrity.\n\n
Accounts Payable & Receivable:\n\nOversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely and accurate processing of invoices, payments, and collections.\nCollaborate with procurement and sales teams to ensure accuracy in inventory costing, vendor payments, and customer invoicing.\n\n
Inventory & Cost Management:\n\nSupervise inventory accounting, tracking cost of goods sold (COGS), and margin analysis to ensure proper valuation of inventory.\nWork closely with the operations team to optimize inventory management, ensuring adequate stock levels while minimizing carrying costs.\n\n
Cash Flow Management:\n\nManage and forecast cash flow to ensure sufficient working capital for day-to-day operations.\nOversee cash management activities, including monitoring bank accounts, reconciling statements, and managing credit lines.\nPrepare weekly and monthly borrowing base certificates and\/or other bank reporting requirements.\nMaintain cash flow forecasting process.\n\n
Internal Controls & Audit:\n\nDesign, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial reporting.\nLead or support external audits (financial, tax, bank, regulatory) and prepare necessary documentation for audit processes.\n\n
Team Leadership & Development:\n\nLead and mentor a small team of accounting and finance professionals.\nProvide ongoing training and support to the finance team, ensuring adherence to best practices and company policies.\n\n
Tax Compliance & Reporting:\n\nManage corporate tax filings, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.\nWork with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax filings, including sales tax, income tax, and any other relevant taxes.\n\n
Payroll:\n\nManage semi-monthly payroll process.\nCalculate and ensure accurate payment of quarterly sales commissions.\n\n
Customer & Vendor Relations:\n\nReview\/approve new vendors, customers.\nProvide required reporting to manage vendor credit lines.\nMaintain Dun & Bradstreet account\n\n
Lender Relations:\n\nMaintain debt schedules and ensure compliance with debt agreements.\nManage lender interest payment process.\n\n
System Administration:\n\nAct as system administrator for iSolved (payroll system), JAMIS (accounting system, timekeeping and expense report processing), Contraquer (quoting system), Velixo (ERP reporting system) and Avalera (state tax filing system).\nManage outside system consultants as necessary.\n\n
Skills & Qualifications: \n\nBachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA preferred).\nMinimum of 10 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a reseller, distribution, or manufacturing environment with the primary customer being the U.S. Federal Government.\nMinimum of 4 years of progressively responsible management experience.\nStrong knowledge of GAAP accounting standards.\nExperience with ERP systems (e.g., JAMIS, NetSuite, SAP, or similar) and proficiency in Microsoft Excel.\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nStrong communication skills with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.\nDetail-oriented with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.\n\n\nOccasional travel may be required for site visits with remote accounting personnel.\n\n
