Finance Director

Nexus-Woodbourne is seeking a Finance Director guru! Must thrive on being a mentor to accounting staff and have detailed knowledge with GAAP and FASB rules and regulations.

Position Summary: 

The Finance Director is responsible for directing and monitoring the fiscal, general business administration and communications systems functions of the assigned location in collaboration with the Executive Director and the Home Office Finance Department.

Pay range starting at $110,000 - $120,000!

Primary responsibilities:

Fiscal Strategy

Ensures fiscal integrity by directing and overseeing all financial, accounting and business office functions while providing regular and timely reporting to the organizations central finance department. Develops and implements internal controls, policies and procedures that support the organizational goals and objectives. Collaborates with Home Office in the evaluation of growth opportunities or expansions and assist with budget development. Provides consultation and guidance to department/program managers on financial issues, budget development, maintenance, and compliance requirements; demonstrates sound judgement and decision making. Oversees all internal and external contracts and agreements including but not limited to management of the food service contract. 

Financial Operations

Understands and ensures compliance with funding source rules and regulations relative to accounting and financial functions; possesses knowledge and experience with GAAP and FASB rules and regulations. Ensures statistical and census reporting is performed in a timely and accurate manner. Collaborates with the Executive Director in public relations and fund-raising activities. Seeks and develops new opportunities for funding including grant development, community resources, individual benefactors, and various fund-raising projects. Serves as ambassador for the assigned location in professional and community organizations; build and foster effective relationships and partnerships in the surrounding community and with referral sources.  Participates in the development of marketing and promotional materials. Supervises the Information Systems, Food Service, and Facilities Management functions.

Fiscal Leadership 

Provides proactive support services for the assigned location. Participates in the selection, onboarding, training, ongoing development, and performance evaluation of assigned staff; assesses staffing needs within organizational parameters and strives to attract, engage and retain talent. Provides performance management for staff on an ongoing basis and conduct formal performance evaluations that are timely and constructive, and that include a development component.  Consult with the Human Resources Department on disciplinary issues. Ensures staff job descriptions are current and accurate.

Attends and participates in staff meetings and training sessions as required by the organization; understand and support the Nexus philosophy and treatment modalities. Ensures adequate, effective, and appropriate usage of all communication systems and resources, while ensuring compliance with all established company policies. Ensures confidentiality and integrity of all proprietary information; ensures confidentiality regarding and complies with organizational policies involving privacy and confidentiality rules for residents and their families. Exemplifies behavior that is at all times professional and ethical.  Builds trust both internally and throughout the community through demonstrated accountability, integrity, and follow-through.  Treats individuals with dignity and respect; exhibits tact, compassion, sensitivity and requires the same standards of others. Performs other responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed. 

Required Education and Licensure:

BA/BS in business-related field Minimum of 8 years accounting management experience in a similar size organization, plus 3 years supervisory experience required. Demonstrated competency in accounting/finance processes and software packages; proficiency with MS software with advanced skill level for spreadsheet and database applications required. Background Check and sexual conduct clearances required. Valid driver’s license required. Must meet state regulating agency and Home Office driving requirements

Preferred Education and Experience:

Knowledge and experience in all areas of not-for-profit finance management including extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) rules and regulations as they pertain to health care providers.
