Pernod Ricard Winemakers USA is looking for a dynamic Finance Director to provide financial and business leadership to our agile and entrepreneurial team. Based in Northern California’s wine country, the Finance Director will play a pivotal role helping deliver our US wine roadmap as well as continuing to transform our Finance function, implementing and shaping the PRW Digital Finance roadmap while providing mentoring to our talented Finance team. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for providing overall financial direction, deliver high-quality insights, and support and control for Kenwood Vineyards & Mumm Napa, as well as for coordinating the activities of the Finance Department. The ideal candidate would be comfortable working in a collaborative team environment as well as making independent decisions; would look for growth opportunities while taking calculated risks; and using their wide ranging experience seek out solutions and not wait for answers.
Position Summary:
The Finance Director is responsible for providing overall financial control and leadership for the operational activities of Kenwood Vineyards & Mumm Napa to ensure:
• Efficient operation of the controlling and reporting function
• Effective leadership and development of the Finance team
• Insightful contribution to strategic planning & active participation in major projects
• Provision of high quality and timely information to Management and active management of business risk
• Timely, accurate and efficient preparation of budget, forecast & monthly reporting
• Overall management, reporting and delivery of cash budgets and key drivers (Wine Cash Out, Cash Capex)
The Finance Director is a member of and a strategic business partner to the PRW USA management team and the PRW Global Operations Finance Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead and drive Operations Controlling
a. Activities controlled: Grape & bulk wine purchases, Viticulture, Winemaking, Tirage / Disgorge / Bottling, Industrial Overheads, Direct to Consumer/Visitor Center
b. Financial scope: DTC, Opex, Capex, Fixed Assets, COGS, Wine Cash Out, Bulk wine, Dry & Finished Goods Inventory
c. Controlling activities:
i. Budget, forecasts, COGS, long term plans and risks & opportunities
ii. Monthly reporting, including direct to consumer profitability and manufacturing variance
iii. Focus on identifying key drivers of variance vs. forecast
d. Identification, support and monitoring of COGS initiatives, as a key enabler to value creation
e. Inventory control and valuation, including coordination of stocktake activities
f. Cash driver consolidation (Capex & Wine Cash Out) including Net Generated Cash
2. Lead and drive Financial Reporting
a. Activities controlled: Brand Owner Volumes, COGS, Structure Costs, A&P, Bulk Wine Sales, Other Income & Expenditure, Non-recurring Income & Expenditure, Direct to Consumer P&L
b. Financial scope: P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash, Consolidated Accounts
c. Controlling activities:
i. Budget, forecasts and risks & opportunities
ii. Monthly and quarterly reporting & commentary
iii. Focus on identifying key drivers of variance vs. forecast & delivery to P&L & cash targets
iv. Half year / full year cash landing
d. Balance sheet management & control
e. Operating cash flow consolidation & delivery to targets
f. Transfer price coordination for export opportunities (limited instances)
3. Champion all compliance & governance related matters:
a. Internal (PRHQ) and external (Deloitte) audits
b. LSF and Sapin II internal control reviews and action plans including communication / reinforcement of all related policies and procedures
c. Property tax audits and property tax assessment reviews
d. Insurance valuation reviews and primary contact for insurance matters through PRUSA
e. Delegation of authority for purchase orders, invoices, contracts & Concur submissions
f. Approval of periodic TTB / BOE / ABC reporting and compliance obligations
g. Lead and implement financial best practices
4. Provide active leadership on people & culture
a. Provide leadership, development and motivation to Finance team members to drive team engagement with focus on building a high-performance team culture
b. Provide financial support, guidance and strategic thought leadership to management to support decision making
c. Undertake PDR, salary & talent reviews
d. Develop SMART annual objectives for direct reports
e. Prepare learning and development plans for local US Finance team
Qualifications & Experience:
1. Demonstrated experience in relationship building, influencing and negotiating with senior level stakeholders
2. Strong leader and contributing to senior management forums strategically
3. Strong experience in leading, managing and developing teams in flexible working environments
4. Proven ability to drive Digital transformation within an organization
6. B.S. or B.A. in Commerce/Accounting/Business or related discipline
• Prepared to undertake any additional training to complement the requirements of the position
• Incumbent may be expected to travel intrastate/interstate/overseas for short periods.
• Incumbent will be expected to work flexible hours including outside normal working hours on occasions.
Pay Transparency: The base pay scale offered for this position is $136,000- $175,000, with bonus potential. These figures represent what we reasonably expect to pay for this position, but the actual compensation offered will depend upon numerous job-related factors. The Company reserves the right to modify the Company.
