Finance Generalist - School of Continuing and Professional Studies
The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) is seeking applications for a Finance Generalist. This role is responsible for a variety of professional level work across various financial disciplines with an emphasis in payroll. The candidate must possess a solid financial background, either gained through work experience or education, which allows them to assume a wide range of duties across multiple areas, including accounting, budget, payroll, financial aid, financial analysis, grants management, purchasing, or treasury. They will work independently, executing a range of financial responsibilities based on the organization's needs. The candidate would need to be a very efficient and detail-focused person, able to track, report, and communicate large sets of data.

Support the faculty wage hiring process for the School of Continuing and Professional Studies.Create period activity payments, establish appropriate payroll costing, make payroll accounting adjustments as needed, reconcile payroll.Develop and implement accurate, timely, and complete budget and accounting documents, spreadsheets, and templates.Complete all related University requirements and submittals, adhering to department and institutional standards and timelines.Participate in training sessions to keep apprised of changes in policy and procedures.Track accounts, special projects, or tasks to ensure appropriate entries are made and monitor the account balances.Maintain financial records, following University and departmental policies and procedures, and maintain all documentation and records to meet audit requirements.Demonstrated ability to investigate unforeseen questions and scenarios to resolve problems in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to provide technical advice and information to faculty and staff in area of expertise.Team oriented, with strong interpersonal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a community.Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.Aptitude to analyze budgetary line items for compliance with budget guidelines.Proactive mindset, with capacity to multi-task and work towards several objectives simultaneously on tight deadlines.Ability to solve moderately complex accounting and reconciliation issues. Demonstrate good judgement in handling confidential and sensitive information.Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)Providing back up to Financial & Business Operations team members as neededOther duties as assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree.Experience: At least two years of experience. Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS

Exceptional background in financial management.Familiarity with Workday and SalesforceStrong understanding of higher education budget and accounting

ABOUT THE POSITION

This position is located in Charlottesville, VA and offers a hybrid work schedule. The incumbent will be required to work on site as needed and requested for meetings and/or other programmatic needs. This is a full-time, exempt level, benefited position with UVa benefits. Employees benefits package highlights include:

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.
