The College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences (A&S) seeks applicants for a Finance Generalist. This position serves as a member of the Dean’s Office Budget and Finance team and reports to the Finance Manager. This position will work closely with many stakeholders and thus the incumbent must be comfortable working with varied units.
The Finance Generalist has responsibilities that are supportive of the Senior Finance Generalist/Finance Manager and involve working closely with the larger Budget and Finance team. Finance Generalist responsibilities include the following:
The Finance Generalist will manage the budget and finance team email. This includes monitoring the email traffic on a day-to-day basis and escalating issues as appropriate.The Finance Generalist’s responsibilities will include the following, to be assigned on an as needed basis, by the supervisor:Assist with account preparation and certification as needed.Process payroll accounting adjustments and journal entries.Oversee and/or assist with the preparation of purchase orders and payment vouchers, ensuring that bills are paid promptly and in compliance with University requirements and resolve any discrepancies with vendors as needed.Monitor letters sent to the team email so that information flows appropriately to the Finance Manager in charge of commitment tracking and budgeting.Monitor chart of account use (FDM) to ensure that departments are maintaining consistency and budget alignment in their use of the FDM.Assist with reviewing and cataloging funding commitments; monitor updates to commitment tracking system and notifying colleagues as appropriate of such updates.Review the BP in Process Monitoring Report each day and notify team members of outstanding tasks. Provide on-going support and back-up for other Budget and Finance team members, thus ensuring continuous School support.Troubleshoot various issues that might arise and need quick analysis and turnaround.Attend University and A&S School meetingsWork is to be done accurately as well as in a timely manner.In addition to these duties, other duties may be assigned.Please be aware that Arts & Sciences is undertaking a project with ambitious goals to provide next-level service to our departments, programs, and centers. Assignments and portfolio will be based on the candidate’s experience and the needs of A&S.
Minimum Qualifications:
Finance Generalist: Bachelor's degree requiredFinance Generalist: 2 years of experience in a related field required. Equivalent experience accepted in lieu of degree.Preferred Qualifications:
