In Trinidad & Tobago, we operate one of the world's largest nitrogen complexes with 4 ammonia plants and 1 urea plant on 165 acres of Trinidad's sheltered west coast.  

 

Reports to the Senior Director, NPK & Commercial Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) Business Partner. This position will be on-site at Nutrien’s Trinidad manufacturing facility.

 

What you will do:
 

Act as the Finance point of contact for the site General Managers and the face to Trinidad’s leadership team while driving continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiencies. Collaborate with stakeholders to develop short-term and long-term site financial plans for Nutrien’s Trinidad facility. With our finance partners, including finance centers of excellence, and financial business services, providing insights into financial results to drive business improvement. Responsible for preparation of the annual operating budget and monthly operating forecasts. Identify and understand site and operating segment strategies, tailoring analysis, reporting, and deliverables to support the strategies. Lead long-term strategic planning for site expansions by working with site leadership to understand production step changes, capital requirements and fixed and variable operating costs. Interpret and provide market intelligence data to site personnel for use in operational planning. Serve as the Business Relationship Manager, fostering strong partnerships internally and externally across various teams, with a specific focus on Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). Review costs, improve visibility and analysis of cost drivers, identify trends and implications of current costs on future costs, and provide this information to site personnel in a timely manner. Compute and validate capital project financial return calculations. Advise on capital allocations at site level. Improve the quality and availability of data and business information, making key financial data readily available to leaders across the Nitrogen Operating Segment. Support the local administration of cash management activities and financial transaction such as cheque issuance/third-party payments processed through payroll. In partnership with the global Tax center of excellence (COE), serve as the front-facing representative for government audits and assist in tax related issues. In partnership with the global Treasury center of excellence (COE), service as the front-facing representative with local banks and government entities to support the issuance and management of VAT bonds while implementing strategic financial forecasting to address the organization’s cash needs. In partnership with the global controller center of excellence (COE); support accounting responsibilities aligned with pension and benefit plans, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory requirements through effective auditing. Nutrien representative for the local Trinidad Pension Committee.

 

What you will bring:

 

Professional accounting or finance designation (e.g. ACCA) with ten or more years of experience. Commitment to safety and integrity. Demonstrated time management skills, and ability to engage and prioritize when involved with multiple initiatives and changing priorities. Ability to work independently or as part of a team with both technical and non-technical staff. Interest in and ability to learn and understand business and system processes. Passion for leadership, proven supervisory experience an asset. Strong Microsoft Office skills, primarily Excel and PowerPoint. Experience in the mining industry and/or procurement is an asset.
