Finance Manager, Amazon MGM Studios Tech Finance
Description Amazon MGM Studios is seeking a Finance Manager to partner with the Studios Technology team in Culver City, CA. This role will act as the controller of the Studios Technology department budget by overseeing the financial planning, operations and modeling. With the help of a Sr Financial Analyst, this team will aid leadership in decision making while ensuring spend is accurate, negotiated and budgeted before committing. This team works closely with Studios Tech Strategy, collaborating to ensure Studios Tech is working on projects that are above the line and providing financial reports and metrics during the planning cycles / as required. A successful candidate will be a highly analytical, strategic thinker who demonstrates the ability to influence business owners and supports decision making in a rapidly changing environment. This role requires strong business modeling skills, a keen attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast paced environment. This role also has regular interaction with executives and various business units across Amazon and therefore requires strong interpersonal and communication skills. Since this candidate will be supporting various projects that enable cost savings, ideally this candidate will need to have the tenacity to drive projects through to completion. Key job responsibilities * Lead financial planning strategy including 10YF, 3YF, OP cycles and quarterly guidance to ensure we are meeting our top-down financial goals by managing the bottoms up process, including resource allocation and project prioritization. * Understand the M&E (Media and Entertainment) and technology spheres to assist our Studios Tech business partners to quickly adapt to business needs and challenges (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits). * Challenge business partner plans based on financial and strategic perspectives. * Build financial models to support leadership decision making. * Maintain and enforce strong financial controllership by ensuring spend is allocated correctly across multiple cost centers and accounts. (Capex, COGS, Opex.) * Partner with Studios Tech leaders and Single Threaded Owners to understand their projects and respective spend. * Work with Studios Tech verticals to coordinate any significant shifts of budget mid-year, including new priorities from executive leadership by either finding funding within our approved budget, or knowing when to escalate for incremental. * Point of escalation for anything finance related for Studios Tech. * Oversee Studios Tech PO process / procurement - Ensure most cost-effective solutions across software and contractors are vetted before committed. * Oversee month end close process and meet with leads to raise risk of overrun with potential solutions to remain within budget in conjunction with Finance Analyst. * Guide Executive summaries / financial models to support decision making by utilizing detailed support of analyst. * Find opportunities for cost savings, raise to leadership, and as applicable help with implementation. * Independently deliver on all stages of a project to improve controllership, business performance, or ability to scale while meeting deadlines. Your improvements may provide deeper insights to inform decision-making or improve a process. You work with multiple teams in or across organizations. * You deal with ambiguity. You respond appropriately to urgent or ad-hoc requests, and take necessary actions to resolve, escalate, and identify correct teams to involve. Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science) - 5+ years of multiple finance and accounting roles experience - 4+ years of building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience - 4+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience Preferred Qualifications - 6+ years of solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience - MBA, or CPA - Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results - Experience performing ad hoc analysis using advanced Excel Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
