Finance Manager

PRIMARY PURPOSE:  The Manager Finance acts as the generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) technical advisor to pool management. Ensures assigned financial duties are recorded and presented according to GAAP, partners in the budget/forecast process, conducts financial analysis projects, and provides support to upper management. Responsible for overseeing the completion of accounting and financial activities for risk pool clients, and for ensuring the overall timeliness and satisfaction of such services.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages accounting staff and directs their work to accomplish assigned Finance department responsibilities.Interacts with senior management in the development and understanding of strategies.Owns the accounting and analysis/reporting needs for the pooling organization.Provides innovative and effective analysis to enhance management and client understanding of complicated financial issues.Prepares written reports for and makes oral presentations to risk pool client Boards of Directors, Committees, and other parties.Performs analysis related to member underwriting, self-insured retention changes, experience modification and cost allocation formulas.Oversees preparation of annual budget and all other annual reporting processes for assigned pooling clients.Provides research on new and existing accounting and financial reporting issues.Ensures procedures are in place to maintain accuracy and meet auditor requirements.Works with a variety of vendors, including actuaries, auditors, and investment advisors to perform complex data analysis.Serves as a financial subject matter expert for pooling and public agency clients.Oversees account payable and accounts receivable functions as well as management of general ledger.Oversees reconciliations of monthly bank and investments.Effectively oversees investment advisor and treasury management.Prepares and/or reviews ensures completion of monthly, quarterly, annual, and other financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).Oversees annual financial audit of risk pool clients.Assists in establishment and maintenance of appropriate accounting documentation, systems, and internal controls, processes, and data.Interacts with senior management in the development and understanding of strategies.Acts as GAAP technical advisor to management.Works closely with other departments as needed to complete projects.
 

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs other duties as assigned.Travels as required.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Provides support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance.Administers company personnel policies in all areas and follows company staffing standards and training recommendations.Interviews, hires and establishes colleague performance development plans; conducts colleague performance discussions.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Licensing

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred.  Licenses as required.

Experience

Seven (7) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

As required by law, Sedgwick provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in jurisdictions requiring pay transparency in job postings. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $86,000.00-$121,000.00 a year. A comprehensive benefits package is offered including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, 401k and matching, PTO, disability and life insurance, employee assistance, flexible spending or health savings account, and other additional voluntary benefits.
