Finance Manager (RD Accruals)

SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE:

The R&D Finance Manager (Accruals) is primarily responsible for the R&D CMC accounting close process. This position will partner extensively with CMC, Accounting, FP&A and other internal business partners to ensure a thorough understanding of our various R&D programs and lead the accurate and timely completion of the R&D CMC accrual during the accounting close. The ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced collaborative environment, have strong analytical and accounting skills, be results-oriented, pay strong attention to detail, and is highly motivated to deliver excellence in their work.   

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Review and analyze R&D CMC contracts/SOWs/work orders to determine the appropriate accounting treatmentLiaison between the CMC team and Accounting team regarding the monthly R&D CMC accrual; guide the proper accounting treatment of R&D CMC related transactionsManage and prepare the monthly R&D CMC accrual to ensure accurate and timely recording of expenses, prepayments and depositsEnsure monthly R&D CMC accrual schedule is complete and ready for manager reviewReview and/or prepare journal entries and related supporting work papers; ensure the work product complies with SOX requirementsCollaborate with FP&A forecast analyst to ensure R&D CMC forecast properly captures planned accrualsWork closely with accounting on month-end and quarter-end deliverables, including but not limit to reporting, reconciliations, etc.Responsible for monthly R&D CMC accrual flux analysisSupport quarterly and annual auditsEnsure compliance with Company policies and the application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP)Assist in process improvements and system implementations as neededSupport ad hoc projects as needed

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education:

BS/BA degree in related discipline and seven years of related experience; or,MS/MA degree in related discipline and five years of related experience; or,Equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience:

A minimum of one year of Public Biotech/Pharmaceutical experience requiredProgressive accounting experience requiredERP systems experience required

Knowledge/Skills:

Must have strong analytical, strategic, problem solving and organizational skillsStrong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skillsAbility to build strong cross functional relationships within an organizationAbility to meet tight deadlines Team player with the ability to work independently, proactively, and effectively under pressureBroad business acumen and sound business judgment Advanced knowledge of Excel & intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint Experience with financial systems – Hyperion Planning/Essbase and SAP – is preferred

Environment: primarily working indoors, performing clerical workMay occasionally be required to work evenings and/or weekends to meet deadlinesTravel not required

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $110,000 - $156,000 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.
