About the Role

The primary responsibility of this role is to assist the Finance Manager in controlling the company’s general ledger and subsidiary ledgers to P&L stage. This includes maximising efficiencies within Finance and the greater business where appropriate as well as building strong relationships with retail and operational teams to provide support to the wider business. 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Journal Processing: Process recurring and non-recurring general journals, month-end adjustments, including rebate calculations, battery and maintenance, clinic allocations etc.; Ensure monthly salary, incentive, leave, payroll tax and accrual journals have been accurately processed; Submit monthly actual data into HFM; Maintain the Chart of Accounts; Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations; Complete other month end journals and tasks as required by Finance Manager/CFO Financial Reporting: Prepare and submit monthly data, balance sheet reconciliations, and management reports. Fixed Assets: Manage fixed assets, including creation, disposal, and depreciation entries. Intercompany and Tax: Ensure that all statutory and legal requirements are adhered to by the company: prepare annual FBT return workpapers for review by Finance Manager; prepare and submit monthly BAS return; liaise with external tax team to prepare annual tax return Compliance: Ensure adherence to company policies and legal requirements: ensure company policies are upheld at all times and Company adheres to statutory and regulatory requirements New Store Setup: Complete financial setups for new stores, including insurance and EFTPOS applications. Support: Assist finance team, managers, and auditors with queries and projects. Continuous Improvement: Focus on process improvements and efficiencies. Lease Management: Maintain property and motor vehicle leases in lease management software. Prepare monthly AASB16 journals, prepare annual roll forward schedules for statutory financial reports.  Cash Flow: Update and report daily cash flow actuals and balances.

About You

3 years in finance / accounting role essential. Practical experience in accounting and desktop software packages essential. Experience with ERP systems (preferably Business Central/NAV, HFM and Hyperion) desirable. Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and Word. A broad understanding of Australian taxation legislation, including FBT, GST, BAS statements etc.  Has integrity and respect for confidentiality. High accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to develop practical and effective solutions to business objectives. Strong verbal and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to build relationships outside of the finance department
