What we want The Financial Accountant II is responsible for managing state and local income tax compliance and reporting activities for TAMU and 11 System members. Position Details: Ability to work outside of normal business hours such as evening and weekends. Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. + 2 Years of Related Experience. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel. + Demonstrates strong multitasking abilities and collaborates effectively with team members. + Capable of independent work when required. + Skilled in analyzing activities to propose enhancements in processes and internal controls. + Adept at understanding and applying relevant rules and regulations. + Exhibits meticulous attention to detail. + Possesses exceptional time management skills. + Strong oral and written communication skills, complemented by excellent customer service and problem-solving abilities in complex environments. Preferred Qualifications: + Experience in Higher Education or Payroll Essential Duties/Tasks State and Local Income Tax Reporting + Manage and execute Federal, State, and Local withholding payments, return filings, and annual state account reconciliations + Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures for State/Local Income Tax reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement + Ensure accurate follow-through on all adjustments to maintain correct filings and payments + Conduct regular audits on pay records for state/local income tax to verify proper tax deductions and implement necessary corrections to employee pay State and Local Income Tax Compliance Management + Ensure compliance with State/Local tax regulations for TAMU and nine TAMUS members through routine audits of employee home and work locations + Stay current with changing tax laws and regulations to maintain organizational compliance Customer Service and Support + Provide expert guidance and timely responses to customer inquiries regarding State/Local tax matters and 1099 reporting + Serve as a knowledgeable resource for internal and external stakeholders on tax-related issues Additional Responsibilities + Perform other duties as assigned by management + Contribute to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the tax department Why Texas A&M University?
