Financial Aid Administrator
JOB SUMMARY: The Financial Aid Administrator, under direct supervision of the Financial Aid Management team, administers financial aid programs to prospective and current students. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to performing a variety of duties associated with certification, awarding, disbursing, and returning of federal, and other financial aid assistance programs. Strong candidates possess an excellent knowledge of and demonstrated ability to administer financial aid processes in compliance with all applicable regulations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Assists students and parents in the application process for financial aid by helping them to complete appropriate and required forms; by advising them of their rights and responsibilities concerning financial aid; and by providing them with information about the status of their financial aid applications. + Thorough knowledge of federal financial aid regulations, with specific knowledge of Stafford Direct Loan, PELL Grants, Campus Based Funding and institutional aid. + Completes verifications, resolves comment-codes, clear ISIR codes, obtains documents, knowledge of current tax forms and makes necessary corrections is ISIRs in compliance with federal and state regulations + Conducts entrance interviews, assist students and parents with completion of MPN’s, Annual Loan Acknowledgement and exit interviews, as required by Title IV and company regulations. + Responsible for student awarding, packaging, originating and disbursement of federal, and institutional financial aid . + Update enrollment status’ in NSLDS. SECONDARY FUNCTIONS: + Carefully adhere to all institutional, state and federal guideline and regulations, including FERPA and participate in professional development on a continual basis to stay compliant + Communicate tactfully, while exercising extreme diplomacy, empathy and compassion when dealing with sensitive information, challenging situations, difficult and sometime disgruntled individuals. + Other duties as assigned by the Financial Aid Director/Associate Director. An employee must be able to accomplish the Essential Functions to be competent in the job. Other special requirements are noted below. Education: Associate degree in a relevant discipline or 3 years of equivalent job experience. Certifications: FSA Fundamentals Software Skills: Microsoft Office, NSLDS, COD, FAAACESS, ED Express, Internal Database. Other Skills: Ability to work independently; • Effective interpersonal and organizational skills, with attention to detail and follow through; • Effective customer service skills; • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality; • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public; • Ability to assess and resolve potential issues; • Effective oral and written communication skills; • Ability to embrace diversity and inclusion and perform in a multicultural setting Job Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience Title IV in an Educational Institution. Personal Qualities: Effectively communicate in a professional, diplomatic, empathetic, and tactful manner. Highly motivated team player with ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with all levels within and external to the organization.
