Job Summary
The Financial Aid Advisor I, under direction, counsels and provides student financial aid and scholarship information to prospective and currently enrolled students and their families. Assists in facilitating workshops and learns to make presentations on and off campus to groups regarding financial aid and scholarships.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Advises and counsels students, parents, and/or prospective students in solving their educational financial problems through scholarships, loans, grants, employment and financial counseling. Responds and researches answers to questions and counseling. Assists in providing loan and indebtedness counseling.
Assists outreach staff with prospective students and in their transition to current students.
Reviews student files and makes adjustments. Reviews appeals and makes decisions regarding the validity of these appeals
Greets visitors and answers general questions.
Assists with conducting on and off campus presentations, seminars, and/or workshops for students and professional development training. Assists in planning and executing special events.
Assists with review, revision, and interpretation of complex rules, regulations, procedures and policies.
Assists in developing and revising financial aid materials, publications and brochures.

Minimum Requirements
Education – Bachelor’s degree.
Experience – No Experience required.
Preferred Knowledge and Experience
Experience in planning, organizing, or in higher education
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of:
Word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to:
Multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Oral and written communication skills.

Relate well with the student population.

Salary: $16.00/hourly
