Job Description

General Summary
Serves as a member of the Financial Aid senior staff and is a supervisory position. Assists with planning and implementation of financial aid policy and processes. The position additionally requires a high amount of contact with many varying constituencies via telephone, e-mail, written and face-to-face communication.
Responsibilities:
+ Provides student financial aid and scholarship information to perspective and currently enrolled students. May present presentations on and off campus. Provide mentoring and training to other staff.
+ Provides key, lead technical support for efficient, accurate automation of departmental functions and delivery of communication with constituents.
+ Monitors information from the Department of Education and THECB (Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board regarding changes in software and transmission platforms, alerting staff to any unresolved errors.
+ Participates in the review, revision, and interpretation of complex rules, regulations, procedures and policies relating to general financial aid and scholarships.
+ Reviews and verifies Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FASFA) data tax returns and supplemental documents, as required by Federal, State, and/ or institutional regulations.
+ Coordinates our front of house with scheduling and tasks to be completed each day.
+ Contributes to the effective team management of relevant problems, issues, and opportunities.
+ Monitors Federal and State regulations for the purpose of assisting in updating and revising financial aid policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Title IV regulations

Necessary Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s Degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ One (1) year of related experience.
+ Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Oral and written communication skills.
+ Customer service skills.
+ Ability to work individually or as a team.
+ Ability to organize and make decisions
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s Degree.
+ Three (3) years of experience in an academic setting.
+ Knowledge/familiarity with state and federal aid programs as well as ability to reconcile accounts.
+ Familiar with Colleague software
+ Multi-tasking with varying deadlines, work comfortably with a variety of personalities and skills.
