Financial Analysts help construct a holistic understanding of financial activity at the University. They may be responsible for a variety of professional level work across various financial disciplines, such as accounting, budget, payroll, financial analysis, or purchasing. Through professional development and work opportunities, they may concentrate on building a more targeted skill set in one particular financial specialty. They assist in preparing recommendations for faculty regarding policies, procedures, controls, or actions. They may interpret and apply financial policies and accounting theory. They prepare standard and special studies, reports, and analyses. They make recommendations in areas such as governmental requirements, statistical reports, and business forecasts. Financial Analysts operate in collaboration with more experienced professionals, who mentor and support their development.
Analyze fund accounts, special projects, or tasks to ensure appropriate entries are made and monitor the account balances.
Assess the University's past performance to provide an estimate of future performance. Study financial data to prepare forecasts of economic conditions and prepare financial reports.
Maintain financial records for department funds, following University and departmental policies and procedures, and maintain all documentation and records to meet audit requirements.
Analyze information influencing investment programs, including price, yield, stability, future trends in investment risks, and economic influences.
Assess income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for the University, and research financial information to make well-informed decisions about future investments.
Assess the University's past performance to provide an estimate of future performance. Study financial data to prepare forecasts of economic conditions and prepare financial reports.
Analyze returns on assets to measure profitability.
Analyze information influencing investment programs, including price, yield, stability, future trends in investment risks, and economic influences.
Follow crucial economic, industrial, and corporate movements by analyzing financial information such as balance sheets, investment banking firms reports, government agency and trade publications, company sources, and personal interviews.
In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: High School Diploma, Bachelor's Degree Preferred
Experience: At least one year of experience.
Workday, Anaplan, Huron, Microsoft Office 365 (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, To Do) and Zoom
Licensure: CMA, CFA, CTP, or CPA is typically acquired while in the position.
