SUMMARY:
Under general supervision and within Brown University Health policies and procedures provides financial support for key hospital service lines. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills along with demonstrated experience in financial and report writing software. Designs implements and introduces advanced analytical tools. Works with the key service lines to ensure optimal performance.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Consistently applies the corporate values of respect honesty and fairness and the constant pursuit of excellence in improving the health status of the people of the region through the provision of customer-friendly geographically accessible and high-value services within the environment of a comprehensive integrated academic health system. Is responsible for knowing and acting in accordance with the principles of the Brown University Health Corporate Compliance Program and Code of Conduct.
Maintains and enhances professional expertise and skills through participation in appropriate educational and training seminars related to financial reporting.
Independently assist the FP&A department with requests and issues utilizing financial systems such as general ledger budget and cost accounting.
Provides technical and subject matter expertise for building and measuring new initiatives with the key service lines and business plans. Assists in the design implementation and roll out of advanced reporting tools.
Participates and assists in the coordination of the Brown University Health annual operating budget and capital budget programs.
Serve as an educational resource to the departments and provides communication between FP&A and departments.
Analyzes financial and statistical data used in Finance. Compiles reviews monitors evaluates and reconciles reports used in cost accounting budgets and capital.
Able to attend high level meetings and actively participate.
Able to design and develop high level analytics/presentations using various data extracts from a variety of sources/formats.
Able to develop project plans assign milestones and keep track of due dates/deliverables and perform other project management tasks as needed.
Able to design and implement robust test plans regarding system upgrades and new software.
Strong organizational skills ability to prioritize manage deadlines and redirect and refocus as needed.
Assists as needed in various financial projects and other related duties as required.
Must have strong critical thinking skills and work independently.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
Demonstrated ability to utilize technology to improve process performance.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 1 year of progressively more responsible experience in a complex automated healthcare multi corporation environment focusing on financial systems and services. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills are required.
Comprehensive knowledge of cost accounting and financial reporting requirements as well as an understanding of the impact that accounting practices have on budgeting reimbursement and cost accounting functions.
Thorough working knowledge and experience with web-based reporting report distribution and data mining tools.
