The Opportunity
We are seeking a Financial Analyst to join the Planning & Logistics Finance team working in a complex United States and Canada mill operations function located in our Corporate Headquarters in Sandy Springs, GA. This position will report to the Director of Financial Planning & Analysis. The opportunity will partner across the business, developing automated consolidated financial reports using excel and Hyperion Essbase, reviewing and analyzing consolidated forecasts and budgets and performing detailed variance analyses using operationally focused explanations. You will work within a finance team of ten individuals supporting the planning & logistics team within our United States and Canada mill operations region. You will establish analytic frameworks and obtain fact-based metrics to populate financial models, oftentimes under tight deadlines. While performing your daily tasks, you must always keep your eye on the big picture; this skill will be invaluable as you may assist in the development and coordination of the annual planning process.
This is a hybrid position with 3 days in the office, and the potential to go to 4 days on-site.

Financial Close Consolidation, Analysis, and Reporting (Quarterly and Monthly).Monthly Business Review for Senior Leadership. Including report creation and change with tight deadlines and writing concise and accurate variance explanations.Coordinate and deliver information necessary for total WestRock reporting consolidation and analysis.Assist in the development of processes and procedures to improve the quality of financial analysis. Drive stronger ownership and accountability of results.Provide forecast and budget preparation and validation including variance analysis and bridge models.Design Reports (routine and ad-hoc) to support various monthly, quarterly, and annual activities.Constantly evaluate the group’s reporting and processes with an eye towards increased reporting efficiency.Assist in the development of the annual operating plan.Work with business owners to find opportunities in improving reports and tracking initiatives to ensure operational discussions are occurring.
What you need to succeed
Bachelor’s degree in accounting finance, or related business field is preferred. 2+ years of relevant analysis experience in budgeting, forecasting & variance explanations.An analytical thinker, who can think through complex subjects and ask the right questions without being prompted.Creative analytical person. The candidate should be able to devise “outside-the-box” solutions to complicated issues with little time to complete.Proficiency in Excel required. Understanding and using complex formulas. Organizing and structuring user-friendly reports and analyses templates for use by less experienced users.Strong capabilities with other Microsoft Office applications are required.Strong analytical and financial modeling capabilities.Solid organizational skills and a collaborator.High diligence. The candidate should be able to absorb and determine quickly if quantitative reports/analyses are valid and reasonable.Self-motivation and intellectual curiosity. The candidate should work hard and drive to meet or exceed deadlines by managing their own workload.Excellent written/verbal communications skills required (Comfortable working with all levels within the company, including senior management). This position will work closely with WestRock business leaders, refining complicated analyses into easily digestible reports or narrative.What we offer
