This position is a Financial Analyst role within the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team supporting Commercial Services at American Express. Commercial Services (CS) serves millions of business customers around the world, from mom-and-pop shops to approximately 60% of the Fortune 500 and is one of three major businesses driving material revenue and pre-tax income.
FP&A is a critical function at American Express, driving all planning, forecasting, budgeting, and analytical activities for all businesses and organizations, influencing major business decisions and improvement to financial health. This Financial Analyst will be specifically responsible for the Planning and Results activities for key metrics (spend/account) and associated key revenue lines for the Commercial Services business.
The analyst will have primary responsibility for developing and maintaining metrics models, providing insightful analytics on business performance to drive profitable growth. The incumbent will provide support to the GCS Finance organization and other key stakeholders, as well as support a variety of critical financial projects of the Global Commercial Services organization.
This is an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain deep knowledge of the card issuing business, as well as gain exposure to and insight from leadership. The successful candidate will have an analytical mindset, and is comfortable collaborating with internal customers, and working closely with leaders.
How will you make an impact in this role?
Responsible for contacting clients with overdue accounts to secure the settlement of the account. Do preventive work to avoid future overdues with accounts that have a high exposure. Report metrics and conduct analysis on drivers for the month-end results and the Risk and Opportunities process. Partner with the GCS Finance organization to ensure accurate understanding of results and inclusion of findings in GCS Risk and Opportunities. Produce financial insights that support P&L management and decision-making by senior leaders. Ensure that FP&A processes adhere to control standards of the organization. Work closely with GCS Finance organization, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Decision Science teams.Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a Business-related field (e.g., Finance, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics). Strong financial, analytical and problem-solving skills. Attentive to detail with strong aptitude for analytics. Demonstrated ability to apply quantitative techniques and financial modeling skills to draw value-add insights from large amounts financial data. Competent Excel skills (comfortable with managing large data sets, Vlookups, charts and graphs). Capable of creating presentations at a professional level and presenting to senior management. Excellent communication, collaboration and relationship building skills, both within the team, as well as across Finance teams. Proven ability to manage and prioritize workload across multiple deliverables and drive results while meeting critical deadlines.Preferred Qualifications
0-2 years’ experience. SQL knowledge preferred.Salary Range: $55,000.00 to $105,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
