Burlington Stores, Inc. is seeking a Financial Analyst I with a minimum of 2-3 years’ experience to support the Sustainability department to review and implement process efficiencies and provide expert assistance in meeting accounting and finance requirements of the Company as well as to provide take a key role in identifying efficiency and effectiveness opportunities. The role will become a lead role of the re-forecasting and budgeting to become a valued partner between them and the Finance/Accounting teams. This role will work with Sustainability members to ensure all the tasks are completed for their assigned tasks.

 

A Day In The Life:

Financial Analysis/Forecasting Budgeting: Provides primary analytical and financial support to the Energy and Waste Teams.  Completes month-end accruals, journal entries, balance sheet, and P&L variance analysis. Reviews payment of invoices by third party vendors for proper coding.  Produces variance reports and forecasts as requested and meets regularly with constituents from each area to identify needs, understand cost drivers, identify possibly process improvements, and solicit new requests.Capex/Expense Budget & Tracking: Work with projects assigned within Sustainability department on both Capital and Expense budgets to develop budget assumptions, monthly tracking/re-forecasting, and analysis. Position will gain understanding and ownership of all general ledger accounts of expenses assigned within Sustainability department to understand and document all variances to Plan and partner to ensure Plan commitments are realized.Develop/Improve Business Reporting & Processes: Develop better business reporting/financial tools and review current processes for improvement. This role will include both heavy analytics and the creation of summary level reports for the Sustainability Department to provide them with the tools necessary to run the business.Performance Improvement Contribution (PIC):. Respond to the needs of the Company by identifying and realizing additional expense/capital saving practices. Work within tasks assigned to develop reporting/processes to better manage expenses and cost drivers.Special Projects: Complete special projects as given by Director of Sustainability – Waste and Finance Analytics or other Sustainability team leads

You'll Come With:

Education & Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, Accounting, or other relevant fields; plus, a minimum of two to three years of progressively responsible professional experience in a financial analytical role involving data extraction, analysis, statistical modeling, financial analysis to include budgeting and forecasting, and visualization. Experience manipulating large data sets, collaboration with team members to provide suggestions on data management, provide data validation and auditing, reviewing current state of data-driven processes, development of KPI/dashboard, and working both independent and as part of team environment. Must have worked in Accounting or Finance roles for a minimum of 2-3 years. Shows history of increased responsibilities.Advanced user of analytical tools such as: Excel, MS Access, or equivalent technologies.Experience using reporting, visualizations, and analytical tools to build insights, communicate findings, and deliver actionable business solutions to stakeholders.Strong problem solving and analytical skills; curious, high energy with strong work ethic.Able to connect various requirements into one synchronized process and work with various stakeholders.Exceptionally strong written and verbal communications skills that reflect an ability to clarify and simplify complex issues.Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.To review, trend and analyze campus energy consumption data in support of utility billing and reporting for energy management functions.Support business data collection, reporting.Strong passion for Data, Sustainability, and Finance.

 

Scope and Impact:

Work scope impacts all stores, distribution centers and corporate facilities. Interact daily with members of the Sustainability team and with cross-functional teams and external data providers. Responsibility for various expense accounts to include forecasting, budgeting, projections, accruals, journal entries, and ad hoc analysis. Role will take ownership of all assigned general ledger accounts and other accounting/financial-related assigned tasks. Position should be able to work independently with some supervision/direction.Assist in delivery or KPI/dashboards, data auditing and validation, environmental sustainability metrics support, and help with data support for both business owners and financial and accounting internal team.
