Position Summary

The Financial Analyst II will directly support the Director of Financial Planning and Analysis. This role is mainly responsible for the financial monitoring, analyzing, reconciliation and reporting of financial activities between Weill Cornell Medicine, Weill Cornell -Qatar and Cornell University-Ithaca.

Job Responsibilities Reviews and analyzes financial statements to ensure compliance with contractual agreements between Weill Cornell Medicine, Cornell University, and the Qatar Foundation. Identifies discrepancies and resolves issues in financial records as noted by The Statement of Compliance from our external auditors. In coordination with Weill Cornell Medicine’s legal office, ensures financial documents adhere to company policies and external regulations. Route financial documents to the Chief Financial Officer for review and signature. Ensures timely and accurate submission of documents. Perform forecasting and budget preparation. Update forecast letters as required and collaborate with Qatar Office to gather necessary information for budget forecast. Updates Debt Service Schedules as needed and prepares prospective and retrospective financial analyses. Responsible for intercompany transactions including the recording of management fees, curriculum payments, and interest calculation. Creates and processes payment requisitions, ensuring proper documentation and approvals are obtained. Manage the insurance invoicing process, including creating invoices billed to the Qatar Foundation and processing reimbursements to Weill Cornell Medicine in accordance with the Medical Education Agreement. Process journal entries in Weill Cornell Medicine’s accounting system to maintain accurate financial records. Reconcile balance sheets to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data. Develop and maintain financial models for analysis and presentation. Prepare and process monthly salary billing for the Office of Faculty Affairs to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital utilizing payroll expense reports. Ensure all salary-related expenses are accurately reflected in financial reports. Collaborate with the Office of Faculty Affairs and Chief Administrative Officers to perform changes of salary funding as required. Performs other related duties as assigned. Education Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Economics or Healthcare related field Experience Accounting experience preferred. Approximately 2-3 years of progressive experience in administration/financial management. Experience within an academic medical center setting preferred. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated proficiency with MS Office Suite and database applications. Detail oriented and superb organizational skills. Demonstrated critical thinking and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and maintain confidential and professional relationships with a variety of personnel.
